I have some registry errors on my computer that are causing some problems. I am running Win8.1 and am about ready to just do a system reset. This options leaves all of your personal files alone so the process will not remove my traktor root directory. It will uninstall the software though, so my question is will the re-install overwrite the root directory folder already in my documents library with a blank one or will it just install the program files and automatically pull my collection when I launch it for the first time since the native instruments folder in the documents library already exists? Or put another way, does it create the root directory folder on install of the software, or after its first launch?

Sorry if this has been asked before....seems like someone aught to have had this question at some point, but I could not find any existing threads about this.

I believe when you re-install Traktor and launch it for the first time it will recognize the existing collection and ask you if you want to import that collection. It will then scan everything and you should be back in business, assuming the file paths aren't changed. If that's the case, you'll need to run the consistency checker and re-locate any broken file paths

That is what I thought. Either way I have a back up of it externally if need be, but that will save a fair amount of time in getting it back up and running again if I don't have to transfer all that info back into the documents library after re-install of the software.

Yes, make sure you have a backup of your Traktor data and collection folders, just in case.

If necessary, you can also adjust the paths (to the root directory, etc.) in the Traktor Preferences -> File Management.
