Six (yes SIX) months ago we were told this in a thread that's now locked to suppress all discussion:-

"I have already promised that I will follow up with more information as soon as it is available. Ranting and complaining in this thread will not accelerate this in any way. This thread is now closed.

    Regards, Thomas

Since no one (e.g. Markus) now visits the forum to help stranded users and six months have gone by without any word whatsoever I don't think it's unreasonable for me to have a rant and complain. Or do NI expect all its frustrated customers to have the patience of Job?

Well, Thomas, you'd have to at least agree with Skyline_UK that Bandstand users whose software doesn't work months after buying it, months after NI agreed there was a problem, months after a tech said it was his next job to fix it and months after you said it was being fixed would feel ... well ... kinda frustrated.

I don't want to cast anything personal at people, I'm sure you're all lovely folks: but can you see that this is something that should have been resolved? And can you see that NI is the party at fault?

I paid my money (my part of the contract) -- now NI must deliver its part.

That's all. And I'm sure you could do better with a little effort.

I hope the weather's fine in Berlin.

Fair enough, I can see that some Bandstand users have been waiting for a fix for the MIDI file load function quite a while. But I didn't feel that this was the point of the original post.

I can only say that I provided specific information about the upcoming patch as soon as the details were confirmed, and I also try to make sure that no "thought police" policies are in place in these forums. There is no post deletion going on here unless someone gets really abusive, which is extremely rare.

BTW the weather in Berlin is not exactly fine, but at least fair ;)

Thank you Thomas for the update in the sticky.

I'm looking forward to Bandstand 1.03.

My remark was referring to a thread being locked because of 'ranting'. I believe this was not ranting but valid users' concern about investing in a product that had virtually no support and no updates since its original launch three years ago. We were asked to wait and we've waited six months now which in the world of commercial audio software evolution is a long time. I have no problem being told that NI have decided that Bandstand is no longer part of their strategic portfolio, and whilst still being sold will not be subject to further development. But what I do have a problem with is the interminable silence on the matter.

No offence was intended to anyone.

Looking forward to 1.0.03! 'Be even nicer if 1.1 was on its way with improved samples! ;)

I seriously doubt that NI would abandon Bandstand. it has such potential for upgrades and mney making. Their priorities might mean their resources have had to be placed anywhere, but why would anyone abandon a product that has a market that can only get bigger.

Beta tests are running since october 1st (i.e. for 8 weeks). That seems to be much for just parsing the command line.

Maybe they are running into all the instabilities that we know...

    Bye,

Well, let's give them the benefit of the doubt. It's obviously not a priority product in their portfolio and there's probably only one bod working on it in a corner of the office!
