I just installed the version 4.01 upgrade from 3 on my G4 and whenever I launch the program in standalone mode (in OS X) it crashes after a few bounces in the dock and the following text shows up in the Console.

At this point, I have tried everything, including repairing permissions, reinstallation, etc. and nothing works. I can never get past the application launching stage.

I, unfortunately, don't know how to interpret the text below (I'm not sure if anyone does, but maybe it will be helpful to the folks at NI). If anyone has a similar experience or any suggestions, hearing about them would be helpful.

yes that's very similar to the error I'm getting.. a strange thing happened to me though, this hasn't been working all day, then I opened it and it worked out of the blue.. but after I restarted my computer it stopped working again and started generating these crash logs.. BTW.. while I had it working I noticed very annoying popping sounds when I was playing back many different synths..

    What an anticlimax :-(

I thought after several weeks delay from expected date it would imply a quality release. However the same - Every execution gives the later error.

Waited till 2:40am to download and install and that the result. gutted doesnt come close :-(

WOW!! That's what I'm getting, too!!

I can't run it as standalone...it bounces around the dock a few times then quits instantly.
I emailed my crash log to NI and got a tracking number from them

Somebody and Sonikmatter said to install it under administrator priviledges but that's what I thought I did. This is MY computer and I have admin priviledges.

I'm glad to know I'm not alone.
    I'm mad this is happening.

Here's my log file and it's the exact same info each time.

this is just a random guess, but do any of you have m-audio sound cards? i remember hearing something about there being a conflict with their drivers that would keep 4.0 from opening...

I get a similar crash and am using an M-Audio card. I almost don't care, since it works in Logic!

I think I can confirm this is a conflict with M-Audio sound cards.. I was able to open up reaktor standalone while I had logic opened up. Since Logic was already using my audio card Reaktor opened up fine.. So I changed my audio settings in the preferences to the built in audio card and it opens up so far every time.. I guess this is the work-around until either NI or M-Audio fixes this problem..

Hope this works for everyone else

Gee, that's funny, since I started a thread about this M-Audio card compatability issue and they said it should be cleared up with this update.

Oh, and I haven't checked any logs in my console, but I can't get the app to launch in standalone either. I'm going to try messing with my sound prefs and see if that does the trick, but...

    What a letdown.

Hey Logickal, I just read that thread, NI said they'd already fixed this problem and it would be ready by the 4.01 release??? hmm.. that's quite odd considering everyone is still having the problem..

    M-Audio Soundcards

    Hi,

I don't think its as simple as a problem with M-Audio hardware. I have a Audiophile 24/96 card in my desktop machine, and I did get the problem described above- the application would not start up at all, and the crashlog looked very like the one pasted in above. HOWEVER, i got exactly the same behaviour when I tried to install on my iBook with only the builtin audio hardware. After several reinstalls, I managed to get the application to run on the iBook, installed the update, and everything is now fine with the laptop.

BUT I couldn't get Reaktor to work on the G4. Tried everything I could think of, until I had the bright idea of simply copying the Reaktor folder from the iBook onto the G4- then it worked......very weird.

    Supplemental to my last post.....

I should have mentioned...now that I have managed to get Reaktor to work on the G4, the M-Audio card seems to work fine with it (though haven't tested the audio ins yet).

Could be that the presence of the M-Audio hardware is somehow causing a problem during the installation process, or when the application is first run. I didn't try this myself, but it might be worth uninstalling the M-Audio drivers, reinstalling Reaktor, running it using only the builtin hardware, then reinstalling the M-Audio stuff. I'd hazard a guess that once sucessfuly run for the 1st time you should subsequently be able to select the M-Audio card as the output and things will be hunky-dory.

    It's worth a try.....

I tried the 4.0.1 AU Reaktor inside Logic 6.1 on my PB G4 with OSX.2.6.
Definitely not ready for prime time: crashes, graphic problems etc.
If I look at the email traffic on this list, I come to the conclusion that
the AU version is unusable, the Mac VST version is more stable and the PC
version is great, hardly anyone complaining. Am I right?
As NI has abandoned the dongle cp, I can"t just switch platforms like I used
to do with R3. Start on the PB, crash, continue on my G4 until it would give
in, then go to my PC and use that as a Reaktor host streaming the audio back
    to my G4.
I will need to make a choice which 2 computers I will "bless" with the new
cp scheme. I would prefer 3 installs, of course...

Anyway, can people comment on the relative merits of OS9. OSX and Win XP as
    a R4 platform?

    Cheers,

    Zip

no problems loading on osx as standalone, but have an anoying crash when playing a sample through the sound player module into flatblaster.ens. crashes every time, as soon as the sample has finnished playing ?

tried loading the au in logic last night, ran sweet the first time until I got ambitious and tried to open up 2 instances, then crashy. logic wouldn't even start up again.. required a reinstall of logic.

For what it's worth, I am using a Delta 1010 soundcard, so it may be an issue with the Delta card or drivers. Any suggestions on uninstalling the drivers?
