I just got Reaktor last night, and by concidence, MOTU finally released the version of Digital Performer that supports AudioUnits.

So far the only synth I've been able to get to work with DP is the Arturia Moog synth.

When DP starts, it does an analysis on the installed AU plug-ins to check for compatibility. The Moog Arturia Demo is analysed and loads fine. THe Virsyn synths (TEra and CUBE) fail the analysis and do not load. THe Oddity synth loads but crashes DP upon actually playing it.

Also, there is a log file that is generated, and it indicates that the found version of Reaktor is not compatible and to contact the manufacturer for an update. (This is despite the fact that Reactor is Version 4.03)

    Has anyone else tried this?

    Thanks!

Yep. I was about to come here whining about it too.

that is - it doesn't work for me either.

Bollocks to it all. Who needs 'sequencing' anyways?! :S

    the wait continues

    From MOTU tech support today:

We are aware of the issue and have contacted NI. They have informed us that
they are working on an update.

    I too am a DP 4.1 user.

I had installed the Arturia Moog Modular demo a while back and since totally forgot about it.

So I was surprised when the Arturia Moog showed up in the Instruments Tracks after upgrading to DP4.1.. Way to go Arturia! I will have to buy their product so I can have at least ONE damn synth running for me in DP4 to use.

I hope the Absynth 2.0 upgrade I ordered doesn't tank like Reaktor.

damn damn damn damn double-damn... my eyes lit up like f***** comits when i read the first two lines of this thread. waiting and waiting and lets all wait some more. i know this (os x) is a new universe and it will take some time to get it all sussed out... but please ni, fix it. other than no au with reaktor, how is dp4.1? i would install it right now, but i have a show in 18 hours...

    cheers!

Yep, DP4.1 crashes when I attempt to instantiate the Reaktor 4.03 AU as an Instrument track in DP. DP4.1 did recognize and set up Reaktor when 4.1 booted for the first time, along with my other AU plugs.

As for other AU VI's the freebie Crystal synth AU plug works fine.... btw

ok NI, how long before THIS fix? This really galls me... 4.03 was the update that promised AU functionality, now that DP4.1 is out and supports AU, we find out that surprise surprise, R4.03 doesn't really quite support AU...

hmmm, I dunno... seems like most of the time, we get hald baked features that require yet another update to get it right. not all software companies work this way, a shame that this is the case here. R4 is brilliant, but this continual parade of features arriving, that don't work, that require another wait for another update, that may or may not work, is simply BS.

Something is amiss .... AU didn't just pop up overnight, plenty of other software vendors got it right.... maybe NI should dedicate more resources to the Mac side.... or or or...

Seeing as AUs work in Logic, I'd suspect that this is MotU's fault.

or that NI tested their AU implemention with Logic more than with MOTU, or maybe not at all with MOTU.. depending on how much early access to 4.1 NI had from MOTU, vs. lead time when workin with Logic support...

It doesn't work for me. I even tried using it through FXpansions vst to au adapter. Unfortunately it is the only plug that crashes that program. Every other one is at least converted, whether or not it works properly.

I bought the full package of software, hoping to use it in OSX. At present B4 loads up but causes the spinning beachball, Absynth mostly works throught FXpansion conversion, but an au version would be great. And Reactor crashes everything.

They all work fine as standalone, but for me that is basically useless.

Hopefully they will have updates soon.

    good news

Just got an email from NI tech support that suggests that the AU component for 4.0.2 works in DP4.1 (and 4.0.3 doesn't). So, delete the 4.0.3 Reaktor.component file from your Library/Audio/Plugins/Components folder, and drop in the Reaktor.component file from 4.0.2 (still available as part of the 4.0.2 download on the support page). Miraculously, Reaktor loads in DP and actually works (ok, I already crashed once ...)

Let me know if this works for anyone else, and what kind of stability you're getting.

wow, it's been really stable. this is very exciting for me as i have NEVER used reaktor as a plugin before. now if only there were a way to open anything made with r4.03 (er.. 3.39 i mean) which is everything i have, except the factory library instruments that have not had updates yet. still, very exciting! no clock drift! yea!

    Re: good news

Ok, I'm running 4.0.3 R4 w/DP4.1 - Just went into the Library/Audio/PlugIns/Components folder, there was the Reaktor.component. When I got info for it, the version was 4.0.2, creation date 5/13/03 !!

Just did the download of the install for 4.0.2 R4, and after unstuffing, I go and look in the AudioUnits folder... there the Reaktor.component sits... Got info for it and it ALSO is version 4.0.2, but with a LATER creation date of 6.20.03

Ok, I'm confused... the 4.0.3 install put Reaktor.component 4.0.2 (5.13.03) version in my Mac, which doesn't let DP4.1 work. BUT the 4.0.2 install gives a Reaktor.component also of 4.0.2 (6.20.03)... which is later but Does work with DP 4.1???

is this what you guys are also seeing... ?? those of you who have made this little patch work?

    thanks a lot !!

yes, bob -- I'm able to load the 4.0.2. component with the 6/20 creation date. it works, but certain ensembles cause frequent crashes. according to tech support, NI is rebuilding their AU code from the ground up. at least we have a semi-working solution while waiting for the update.

It almost works for me. I can get some fx to go, but some others cause crashes of DP. I'm not sure yet which ones. Its better than nothing for now.
