Sample preview is a very imporant issue I was hoping to see in this update...what's going on here? Reaktor 4.1.1 maybe? Is this a feature that NI is planning to incorporate anytime soon? PLEASE???

    sync audio and midi

Do you Logic users get sometimes a "Error while trying to synchronize Audio and Midi? So annoying..I think it is a Logic only thing??
    Anything to kill this??

The sample preview thing is the one thing im personally really gutted about because it didnt get done. Im well aware that a huge number of users were desperately hoping for, and frankly, expecting this feature in Reaktor 4.1. To be honest I would have been the same if I was still an end user (well of course, I am still very much an end user!).

Ultimately it was a matter of prioritisation. The problem with Reaktor is that it is so incredibly multi-faceted, and you can use it in so many different ways, that everybody has their own different list of priorities. No doubt if every decision about R4.1 was 100% mine then sure, the update would have been a little bit different to suit my own personal tastes. But overall I'm satisfied that it's a good update. The sample preview will get there eventually... in the meantime please enjoy a generally much improved version of Reaktor :)

Difficult to say at the moment, but a few weeks. A beta version should be ready in about week, so we will have a clearer picture when testing begins on that.

Just out of curiousity, are R4 and RSession's code that different that you have to beta them apart?? I thought the only diff between them was the removal of the building toolset?

I'm a DP4 user. I wish there had been a note SOMEWHERE in the documentation or on the NI & MOTU website, "Reaktor, Kontakt, etc. is not compatible with DP4 at this time", keep the date current and leave it at that. Sketchy advertising and not disclosing clear facts for fear that software will go unpurchased is what's truly frustrating. My respect for both companies is waning at this point. In the meantime, Reason 2.5 rocks!

    Snap Dropdown

The snap dropdown is driving me crazy. It opens and closes whenever I click it once, instead of staying open. The only way to keep it open is to click the topmost edge of the combobox, or to drag the mouse over to the scrollbar (if there is one). Does anyone else have this problem with R4.1?

yes. but only if the dropdown is 'scaled' and/or "automatic layout" is off.
('scaled' is, when "voices" and "unison" info is not visible.)

The responsibility in this instance falls upon MOTU, as it is their program that is denying NI's. I'd expect MOTU will add NI back to their list of compatible plugins after they beta test the 4.1 release.

I still get the problem when "automatic layout" is turned off. You should check that you didn't click the upper half of the dropdown when you were testing that mode.

I'm getting this problem on all of the combo dropdowns in the program, so I think it will persist no matter what the layout settings. There's probably one ActiveX object that they need to tweak and it will fix every combobox in the program... I hope.

james has posted in another thread that the new combo box behavior is intentional. it makes using them faster once you get used to it. personally i believe it's a way to get around the "stuck" menus that would occur every once in a while.

I don't think it's intentional, because it wouldn't make any sense to do it that way. Just from a functional standpoint, if you single click the dropdown then you'll never be able to scroll down to higher snap numbers. Anyway, if they intentionally wanted it to be a one-click operation then it's still buggy in R4.1, because sometimes the one-click activation requires two clicks.

If they really want a one-click operation, then they'll have to implement auto-scrolling in the dropdown list... making it so that the mouse location being close to the bottom/top of the list will cause the list to scroll. Otherwise, they need to make it a two-click operation.

I like the two-click operation myself for one important reason... holding and dragging the mouse, while the button is down, introduces the potential of selecting the wrong snap. Imagine you're recording on snap 1 and you go to select snap 108... you're holding down the mouse... dragging... holding down the mouse... dragging... whoops! You're finger has slipped and now you're playing snap 67! That's not going to happen with a two-click operation.

hey, at least this update fixes my biggest gripe -- Logic now remembers Reaktor settings across restarts when using Reaktor as an Audio Unit!! This made my week.

Yeah, I agree that it's very cool that we've gotten this upgrade. The improvements outweigh the one or two new quirks.
