It would be cool if Reaktor owners could have a paper manual sent out when it's finished for an appropriate fee. I'd be happy to pay a reasonable amount for that.

This is a great 5.5 update, stable in Live 8 for the moment, less cpu hunger, and nice User Interface.
    Good job N.I !

Thanks for the update, NI Reaktor Team.

And thanks for not trying to sell us 5.5 as 6.0.

I'm gradually appreciating 5.5.1 the more I use it :) As has been said, I've also found sync to DAW has been greatly improved. I constantly use a trigger gate sequencer module I built about 2 years ago and I've spent a long time playing with various clocking options but have never got it locking reliably in Logic. All of a sudden 5.5.1 fixes it, it's working perfectly now - very happy.

Also getting to love the new GUI too...

It's beautiful, I love that the code's been optimised and that it feels so solid. EI1+2 is a lovely thing to bundle with it, too: lots of fun. Thanks NI - I'll be happy to wait until v6 for my convolution module now ;)

I'm still waiting for my adsl access to get repaired so I havn't been able to try 5.5 but what I really appreciate is that the NI is replying to forum posts!
E.g posting a conclusive statement on saving as VST!

Now what about the new primary modules. There was a statement when R5 was released that there would be no more developments of primary modules, only core macros. Is that strategy dumped? Will there be improvements regarding core in R6?

Yeah, I am a fan of paper manuals too - gotta have 'em for the potty-time reading. I suppose these days a kindle or iPad might be appropriate, but I don't like to bring a laptop onto the pot ;)

I purchased the extra manual set for Reaktor 5 and then after playing/learning for a few weeks decided programming it was a bit too much like my day-time job and went back to tweaking existing ensembles and/or Kore sounds. I have some renewed interest now though and may start getting back into it, mostly because my favorite Kore sounds are those that are made using Reaktor instruments like Reaktor Spark and I have new interest in processing output from my hardware modular.

    Thank you Matt!

Yes, I have no idea why adding a search/filter/tagging mechanism would in any way impede the usability or speed of the UI... quite the opposite.

The layout of the manuals is reasonably printer friendly, so you can take the PDF files to a copy shop and have them printed and bound as a book.

With the manuals being digital only it is much easier to keep them up to date.

    Regards,
    Christoph

I can't agree with you that "Version 5.5 seems an attempt at making the product look prettier". There are some significant new modules that lay the basis for many new forms of synthesis and ensembles for Reaktor (esp the modal modules) and there are also significant changes to the underlying codebase - some graphics related but some also related to audio processing. Sure there could be more new modules (as you mention FFT etc) but R5.5 is not just a gui redesign, that's a part of it but I don't think it's the main part.

It's funny. We basically have had access to FFT functions via the easyfft macros, core modules, and instruments. I can't think of 1 user library ensemble that made use of them besides the original ones that came with that download.

I think what most people are saying when they ask for FFT is "I want a FSU module that I route audio into and spectral goo comes out." or "I want a convolution reverb module" which is more that just simple FFT. Granted, it would be nice, since there is already one in Battery and Kontact...

Perhaps a tutorial in the new documentation about what processes can be done once the audio is broken in to the vectors would help.

Missing MIDI import, missing time display on audio player/recorder.
Drag & drop in player/recorder is good.
Looks a bit like R4 with fixed elements on the left side.
    Reinstal 5.1.5!
    NI is informed.
