This is fine by me so enough of that.

    BUT

How about ability to IMPORT 3rd party vst plug-in INTO Reaktor? Of course the ensembles then wouldn't be usable to people who don't have those 3rd party plug-ins but just think of the possibilities. It would make all sorts of layering easier, one could smoothly cross-fade between sounds from different vst's, have instruments react to playing in semi-pre-programmed way etc etc.

My guess is that ^ would eat into Kore territory too much to ever happen.

Plus, Reaktor's complex enough as is. Adding hosting for plugins would add a whole new level of nightmares for support.

VAZ Modular hosts plugins, but the routing scheme, etc. with VAZ is much more defined, and there's no really low level modules.

I think Max/MSP could host VSTs though, couldn't it? Not sure about Max4Live.

Also, another point about allowing VST hosting in Reaktor is that it would open up a can of worms for Support when people try to import horrible buggy Synthedit VSTs & cracks.

If you want reaktor flexibility in a plugin host, check out Usine.

I used to use reaktor with plogue as a modular host, but usine does the work of both. I'm now happy to use reaktor for its intended purpose.....

That might be. I didn't really think of the support angle...

Granted, a lot (all?) of the functionalities I had in mind can already be done by combining Reaktor ensembles instead of VSTs anyway. Now I just need to find the time and energy to learn Reaktor well enough to do any of that.

yep.. MFL can.. I sometimes use Reaktor VST/AU inside MFL which allows me to send notes/modulation data directly to Live..

Bidule is what I finally chose. I was looking for a long time and trying many different things...it has the most to offer for the price. I especially like the OSC integration.

why not use swarm intelligence to proofread the manuals. if one forum user would correct 10 pages or so you would need like 45 people (in case of the reaktor application reference). there are so many typos in the manual i guess everybody would be happy to spend some tiny time to improve here.

i guess the proofreading is not the biggest issue. the bigger issue would be the moderating or integrating the corrections. if the manual would be set up like a wiki where everybody with a beta-account has an read/write access to it, the editing could be easily done by the proofreader.

    :)

I understand the reasoning behind it, but I sure would appreciate it being in the package deal. I've purchased my update to Komplete 7 already, but it would feel a lot more complete to me with a renewed hard copy manual inside the box. Maybe it's just me, but Reaktor is such a complicated product so the manual is a must have.

does anybody know if there are any confirmed bugs in 5.5beta? a list of them maybe? sometimes i have the feeling things don't behave like they should but since i'm pretty new in building my own stuff (started with this beta :) ) it is hard to say because of the complexity of it all.

If someone has Kontakt, could they verify if Reaktor 5.5 sample maps load or crash it?

I no longer have 5.5 installed.

I've been reporting this bug since Kontakt 3.

Maybe it can get fixed now.

Kontakt still crashes (as does Battery); I get a runtime error. Both Phil and I've reported this in the Battery and Kontakt beta lists.

The sequencers in Lurker don't seem to work any more in 5.5. Anyone else or is it just me being dim ?

It depends on which version you use. The existing instrument needs a clock hooked up to it; there's clock inputs. On the other hand, if you use the import ensemble option, it works.

Is Reaktor 5.5 going to be included on the Komplete 7 discs, or... Will it be an update? Just wondering if it's already finished, or if there's a bit more time to wait.

5.5's on the disc. The update that'll we'll see is 5.5.1, which will be a maintenance update for K7 users.
