5.7's coming, awesome, reaktor's still getting some love from NI.

this is probably directed @ Keir, but I'd like to know what some of the new and improved features really are, as the update status does little to explain what do these things do, for example, what does the 'explicit edit mode' mean?
    and what are 'screensets'?
and how will this 'global debug mode' work?

    etc.

i am very excited for this 'loading time optimization.' any details on what that means in practical terms would be very much appreciated (of course with the understanding that any info would be subject to change on final release). i have several ensembles that are badly hindered by huge loading times :p

loading time is very drastically reduced for ensembles with big core structures: f.i. RUHR loads in edit mode 52 seconds in play mode 3 seconds. But when you change to edit mode you have still the same time. So if you only use an ensemble as plug in (no changing of structure), means as preset player, the reduce is enormous.
Nevertheless if you want to edit an ensemble you have still to optimize the core structure to get reduced loading and saving time.

well, that gives an idea of what might the "edit mode" mean. it's weird then, though, that the addition of "edit mode" is listed, but if we go by what herw just said, it's the "play mode" that seems to be the new thing.

anyway, this is great news, imo. RUHR and a few others (arachnaut's version of metaphysical function is another example) will definitely get a lot more use here now that they load faster.

    wow. hello, megatron 2.0. thanks.

i've been wanting them to include that exact feature for a while, looks like RUHR was the kick in the ass they needed.

no - RUHR is only an example; as i said the goal is to optimize core structures by yourself to get always a short loading time - but play mode is a very nice feature.

In what way was the "Feel of wire dragging improved"?

I hate it when they say stuff like: "Numerous other fixes focusing on improved functionality and stability". Is it so hard to list them all? That's how a true changelog is made...

yes - there are much more from minor update to minor update. The listed fixes are those which are most of user's interest.

as long as keir is reading the thread, i know i'm not the only person waiting for reaktor 6. in fact, the lack of news about reaktor's future has me thinking about jumping ship to another platform. you're running out of point upgrades between 5 and 6. you've started hiring reaktor instrument developers.

is r6 planned for the next komplete this fall?

? this is a thread about upcoming 5.7 nothing more - the good thing is that NI is working on REAKTOR - reading the announcement you see that they have fixed some old bugs (grain cloud etc.) and i think that these are good news.
And i like the idea that there are several minor updates last year 5.5, 5.6, 5.6.2 and now 5.7.
I think NI is doing a good job! Small steps but REAKTOR is getting better and better.
I think you shouldn't hijack this thread to a futuristic R6-thread.

i'm not hijacking anything. i'm asking a simple question that in my opinion relates to 5.7.

This kind of polishing makes me believe that R6 is really far away.

Global Debug mode sounds promising and load time optimization is something that users requested... and then bugs fixed, fantastic!

rename the dll to "Reaktor 6"?

NI is working on Reaktor, improving, bug fixing, adding features...

FINALLY some noticeable love. Wether you call it 5.7 or 6.0... what's the point?

Good to hear about the upcoming improvements!

yes, but there isn't a lack of version numbers with ableton, but instead, some lack of communication, progress and features, which became very important nowadays. Imagine a Live 9 -FINALLY *g* - without x64 exe/vst/rewire support... ;)

However, it's good to see Reaktor improving, progressing after all these years.

There are more than 1000 posts on feature requests spread around this forum. Some are small and some are big. Just to make a random example: Core is missing a lot of love and feels like "1.0 work in progress" (not at all saying it's useless). Also making advanced GUI could have use for added functions, even script language support. Major improvements like that I would not expect in 5.X release.

I was just trying to sum up all expectations of major improvements of Reaktor using the term Reaktor 6. Then I can only hope that my expectations are met...
