    Hi guys,

I wanted to buy NI Komplete 9 Ultimate bundle. I've noticed that the price is still 999 USD BUT the crossgrade version costs now 374,50 USD. What is more REAKTOR 5 costs now 199,50 USD. So, could u please tell me :

if i buy reaktor 5 and komplete 9 ultimate crossgrade, do I have the same exact product that I would have if I buy just full version of Komplete 9 Ultimate? What are the differences? Do I understand the whole "crossgrade" thing properly?

and another question - does the crossgrade version include the hard drive?

    best regards!!

    PS. sorry for my english

Retail, Update, and Crossgrade versions of the product are identical. They just have different Serial Number sets.

So yes, if you buy Reaktor 5 and the K9 Ultimate crossgrade, you will have the same product (including the hard drive) as the retail version.

With an update or crossgrade, those specific serial numbers require you have the qualifying product registered under your NI account.

If you had the full retail version of a product you could simply register it under your NI account. With an update or upgrade, when you try to activate/register the NI Service Center looks at your NI account to make sure you have the qualifying product registered.

To install your products correctly you would need to:
    1) install Reaktor 5 on any computer then activate it using NI Service Center (this will register the product in your NI user account)
    2) then install the Komplete 9 Ultimate on any computer. When you go to activate it, the NI Service center will "see" you already have a qualifying product registered and everything will work.

Do I get this right: For the K9U crossgrade I do have to have a MASCHINE and a previous version of KOMPLETE? As someone who has a MK2 I could not simply buy the K9U crossgrade (paired with the current Thanksgiving offer) and have the full K9U version. I also need a previous version of KOMPLETE, right?

    http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-9-ultimate/pricing/

According to this link, selecting the "Choose your option" of crossgrade, you only need to have ONE of the following products:

MASCHINE STUDIO, MASCHINE (but not MASCHINE MIKRO), KONTAKT 1-5, REAKTOR 2-5, GUITAR RIG KONTROL 1-5 (but not LE, GO, XE, SESSION or other versions of GUITAR RIG).

Based on the above, if you already own Maschine MK2 you would be eligible for the Crossgrade to K9 Ultimate for a price of $374.50. You would not have to also own any previous version of Komplete.

A crossgrade normally only requires you have one qualifying product.

I'm sorry, is this an official statement? Because, you know, this deal sounds to good to be true.

Yeah i'm really confused with this offer. I'm guessing that the crossgrade is exactly the same as the full version but with different serials but there's no where on the sales page that states that. I submitted a sales team ticket about this saturday and still haven't had a reply.

Also anyone know whether if i de-activate/sell my Maschine MK2 whether or not Komplete 9 Ultimate would go un-authorised? Because that would suck to say the least.

    Thanks

    Dom

Actual NI employees RARELY, if ever, post in this sales thread. If you need an immediate answer, I would suggest calling NI on the phone. If you are in the U.S. you can call their Los Angeles Sales office.

The information I referenced was from the NI website so I would consider that "official". I would suggest you look at the specific webpages for yourself to verify.

I would have no problem personally buying based on the information NI has posted in their website. If something went wrong, I would contact NI and make them correct the problem. If their information posted was a mistake and they refused to correct it, I would simply file a credit card charge dispute.

This current offer isn't that outrageous. NI really wants to get people on Komplete or Komplete Ultimate. NI makes some good money upgrading people each year or two to the next version of Komplete or Komplete Ultimate. In my case, I have been buying Komplete or Komplete Ultimate since Komplete 3.

NI would never post information about "Serial Number sets" because that is too technical. NI simply states "Komplete 9 Ultimate".

The fact is these are the same products. I have purchased Full Retail, Educational, Update and Upgrade versions of NI products from retailers and the only differences are labeling on the boxes.

If you take advantage of a crossgrade/upgrade, anything that allows you to purchase an NI product at a discount because of your ownership of a specific product, then those products are tied together and can not be re-sold separately.

In your case, if you own Maschine mk2 and you used that ownership to buy a discounted version of Komplete 9 or Komplete 9 Ultimate, then Maschine and Komplete licenses WOULD be linked together, and you could not simply re-sell Maschine, keeping Komplete.

In my own situation, I originally purchased Kore and Komplete 3 together, and I have been purchasing Komplete upgrades every year including Komplete 9 Ultimate. In effect, ALL of my NI products are linked together since I was getting upgrade discounts due to the ownership of previous products. I would not be able to sell any version of Komplete without transferring ownership of all my linked products together to a buyer.

I wanted to add there is the real possibility that NI will release Komplete 10 and Komplete 10 Ultimate in 2014.

    Their recent Komplete Release History:
    -- July 2010 -- Komplete 7
    -- Sept 2011 -- Komplete 8/K8 Ultimate
    -- March 2013 -- Komplete 9/K9 Ultimate

I just purchased the K9 Ultimate update myself given its 50% off status (for me $200 instead of the original $400), knowing there is a chance K10 will come out next year.

It does work! Ordered Reaktor on sale for 199,00 (don't buy a boxed version, you wont get the serial as email!). Registered it (might take up to 120 minutes to get the serial according to the NI-FAQ). And bought the crossgrade Komplete U for 374,50 (showed me the crossgrade as "my/recommended version"). Now I have to wait to get the packages, might take a few days since it seems to be sold out here in Germany.

BTW I was also kinda "pissed" that they didnt put the normal version on sale (still on 999,00) and I wouldnt have figured the "hiddens sale" if you havent posted it here, thanks for that. 575,00 still cheap for all that stuff if you ask me.

    Sorry for bad english!

I paid $400 Australian dollars for the Crossgrade version and I received it today! I was very surprised to find the hard drive was a used item! It had scratches and scuff marks all over the top of the drive, and there was a Komplete 9 sticker on it that was worn around the edges.

I also noticed the compartment where the hard drive sits in the box, did not contain the hard drive and the hard drive was sitting in the bottom of the box which indicates it was taken out! Now it could've been taken out during transit, but those special circular stickers that you find on a lot of software boxes, were not tampered with and the fact that there are a lot of scratches on the drive, even if customs or someone transporting the drive was to copy the content, there is no way they would that many scratches on the drive.

It makes me wonder, because I only paid half the price for the Komplete crossgrade, was I given a second hand drive that once failed and was reformatted!

I am waiting on an urgent response from Native Instruments!

no, you will get a plastic cased usb 2 drive instead of the nice metal one pictured and the product box will be different, the hard drive is does not fit in it very well so it will come loose durning shipping and move about an area of the box with the y usb cable. that is what you will get, not the pristine pictured one. of course the content will be exactly as listed. i just wanted to make it clear so you will not be disappointed, as were a good percentage of persons who recent bought this

mine came scratched up too, it came loose in the box and the usb cable appears to have scratched it up. it was new, but i could tell that the production was done in house or at a small facility similar to the ones that duplicated cassette and video tapes.. since the cable only fits underneath, i believe the asshats they contracted to do this were lazy and just tossed the drives underneath the inner box area the hard drive was supposed to go in. i think they metal case usb 2 drives were no longer available, being a few mm larger than the metal in width it would have take an extra second to put in the box that was made for the metal case drive and they did not want to spend the extra $10 to give us screenprinted usb3 drives like the ones that will be in Komplete 10 ultimate. the product is half over, Komplete 10 is due to come out last week of may 2014, so half off is that the product was exactly half over/obsolete. if you pay $399 to upgrade to Komplete 10 ultimate from Komplete 9 ultimate, in the long run you will pay the same but have been able to use K9U while waiting. black friday and xmas has always been a bit of a scamming season. my 2 cents. according to nsa spying via agent sir snowKon, K10U will have kinetic metal, reactor 6, fm 9, super charger, action strikes, drum lab, and more effects. look for a new synth as well.

if you are annoyed about your drive, file a shipping damage claim.

Thanks for the info ntula! I don't have reaktor, however registered owners of the full version of Kontakt 5 qualify for the cross grade version of Komplete 9 ultimate as well! As far as I'm concerned, even if they state on the bottom in small writing that the hard drive may not be the same as the one advertised, this is false advertising because the hard drive doesn't even look similar and it's deceiving to put a glorified polished external hard drive with an engraved logo on the box as part of the package, when in fact you're getting a drive that is second hand.

The scratches on the drive were not caused by the USB cable and like I said it had finger prints all over it.
I will wait for their response, which incidentally I'm still waiting and I will give them one more week before I call them directly and abuse the hell out of them!

The installation took over 3 and half days with both USB plugs that are attached to the hard drive plugged into USB 2.0 ports on my PC.
My PC has 7200RPM drives installed and it has a quad core intel processor running 4 GHz with a Gigabyte Extreme Motherboard which is one of the high end motherboards that came out just before they started to ad 3.0 USB ports!

    Thanks again for the info

Gee...84 straight hours to install a 370 GP package? Yeah, I'd say there's a problem with that drive. You're a very patient man for sticking with it that long.

+1. the only thing that would make it that slow, besides a defective hard drive or interface, would be if you had strong anti-virus software running.

it took me 2 hours and 53 minutes to install it. that was using the usb2 drive and y cables to via the standard usb2 bus on a mac pro to a SATA internal drive on the boot disc, default location.

when i installed it on for my laptop on a high performance wd7200rpm drive, it took the same to copy to files to the external disc. the kicker was i thought the installer was written to detect the libraries and not try to re-install them, but it was not, in order to get the license file and location pref in my system, i had to wait another 3 hours for the installer to read the entire disc but not install any new libraries over the newer ones (i had already ran the updates on it from the service center). i was hoping that the installer would not need the libraries so any additional installs would only need the main installer, which i could back up.

both drives are generic, minus the screen printed k9u logo. i found them online for sale at the maker site and an online store. you can order the metal drive with usb 3...https://www.speicherbilliger.de/festplatte-extern-2-5-usb-3-0-zinc.html?simpleId=2879 http://www.cnmemory.de/core-25-usb-20

the packaging of it all reminds me of the cassettes and video duplications places that hire high school kids and non-citizens here to do the late night rush jobs. i have a feeling NI contracted the keebler elves to do this and did not find out until it was too late and the product sealed and ready to ship. obviously it is a complete waste to open everyone and check. they should have sent out an email to everyone stating the product would be significantly different and if they still wanted it.

this is the same plastic drive in usb3 (note the price is about the same.. $5 diff.. the usb2 one of the metal and plastic appears to be no longer available in 320 or 500G) https://www.speicherbilliger.de/festplatte-extern-2-5-usb-3-0-core.html?simpleId=3266

it would have costed about $10 more and taken an extra month to use the metal usb3 case with the screenprinted logo (they would have to be custom ordered, made and printed in china) with k10u in the works for the standard beginning of 3rd quarter release, waiting until february would not really make sense.. but they should have at least put a picture of it up on their facebook page and sent emails like they did the order confirmations...
