So, I decided to instead spend $800 US to build an Intel (865PERL/P4 3.4) music computer, switch from Digital Performer to Sonar/Live, and haven't looked back since. Reaktor in this PC world is a speed demon. Cakewalk has been a great company to deal with, and from a musicians standpoint, the PC system offers much great usability (for me) than the G4."

Absolutely. Reaktor screams on p4 3.0's.

In a year or two I will go for the new 64 bit cpu's by either intel or AMD. It's nice having all this power. Reliable as heck too.

Now, if Apple will put gapless playback in their iPod I will be giving them my money ASAP.

Seriously! This issue hasn't prevented me from buying 3 iPods, but geez how hard can this be? Every upcoming song is already buffered; is it really such a feat of engineering?

I was always under the impression that Carbon allowed a developer to use modified os9 code in an osX app, and there was a performance hit as a result. Your comment prompted some much-needed reading, and I realize now that I am oh so wrong, about the the performance part, anyway. So NI has no excuse now, aside from hard core optimization. Here's to R5.
