Reaktor 6 CPU overload

Most of the new Block based ens cause cpu overloads. No other instruments loaded at the time - only Reaktor 6.

This is quite annoying as I'm using an i5 Intel cpu. That ought to be more than sufficient for Reaktor 6 demands.

I hope there is some fix for this other than having to upgrade my laptop.

I will try Reaktor 6 on an i7 based PC soon and see if that works.

I'm very disappointed about this right now.

There are slower and faster i5 CPUs out there. Which one is yours?

At which buffer size you're running Reaktor and at which sample rate?

The sample rate was supposed to be 44.1 - the normal rate in Live 9. Did not check the buffer size as it did not get past the point where Reaktor reported that the sample rate could not be used.

Live crashed when I finally found a Reaktor Block ens that did work.

    Intel M560 @2.67 GHz
    8 GB ram.

Right, mobile CPUs are usually throttled by the OS (Intel SpeedStep, core parking) and aren't working at full steam all the time, unless you tweaked that.

I'm running a MacBook Pro from 2007 (2.2GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM) and it plays all the NI-supplied Block ensembles without overloading the CPU. The most demanding runs at around 78% CPU I think (according to the Reaktor meter), but runs fine, no crackling.

I did get one snapshot which overloaded, but I deleted a block and undid the delete and it was back down to 40% - a bug, then, not a fundamental problem, I think.

I'm thinking of upgrading the laptop but would like to see something that can handle any of the supplied ens at about 25% load. Perhaps the next gen Intel cpus will make this possible.

Right now I don't have access to my i7 PC. Will see what that does for Reaktor 6.

Meanwhile I can use the Steps.ens without overload. Runs at about 37%

I run Form and Rounds on

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3701 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

    in Cubase 8.5.

when I make 5 instances of it, the cpu is way over it's capabilities. Are you kidding me? Thank you very much for software like this, it's unusable.

Not to mention the freaking mouse bug that causes loading random presets everytime I reopen reaktor in Cubase, aaarg! You are killing me NI. Such great instruments but such a lame execution...

That's interesting. I like random presets. In Cubase 7 LE it doesn't do that.

:) The problem is when I have already tweaked the sound and then I reopen Form (or Rounds or Razor or Monark...) it sometimes automatically selects another preset and destroys all my work. I hope we agree this is not very user friendy.

This happens (when you open Reaktor by clicking an icon in Cubase) if your mouse cursor is on the spot where the preset list is located when the Reaktor window is evoked. It looks like Cubase calls Reaktor on mouse-down event and then a preset in Reaktor is selected on mouse-up event. You literally do two things with a single mouse click. This makes Reaktor very painful to work with. I thought NI was aware of this and was hoping it will disappear in version 6, but no luck this time.

This problem is more evident in Reaktor 5 since Reaktor 6 closes (or forgets) your last position in the preset list when you close it (which is another unpleasant issue)

I had the same issue on my Surface Pro 4 with an Intel i5. Thanks to EvilDragon's post, it occured to me that plugging in the power adaptor might unleash full power of the CPU. This solved any lag or crashes right away!
