So the free player version of Reaktor 6 works perfectly fine in Pro Tools 10.3.8 on my work machine (Windows).. however on OS X it's another story, I run Pro Tools 10.3.10 and the plugin is correctly installed in all of the relevant directories, but it just isn't being picked up in the plugin list.

I really don't get it because I have other NI AAX plugins installed and they're all listed?

Can anyone advise? I'm on a fresh install of Yosemite 10.10.5, fresh Pro Tools 10.3.10 install - incredibly frustrating.

    Yep, works perfectly fine.

Considering it works for Pro Tools 10.3.8 on my Windows desktop would surely hint it should work for 10.3.10 on my Mac?

Thinking about it, I do believe I had this issue on another Mac when Reaktor 6 first came out.. so maybe it's a NI problem?

Not necessarily, since Windows and OSX are using different plugin formats in general.
In addition 10.3.8 and 10.3.10 are also different versions, so it might also be the case that some problems where introduced with version 10.3.10.

Oh.. but the copy on Windows is AAX, and the copy in the plugin folder on my Mac is AAX too.

There can be differences for certain plugin types (like VST): http://soundgrains.com/2015/02/understanding-audio-plugin-formats-vst-audio-units-aax-and-rtas/
But not sure if the same AAX plugin is usable in both Windows and OSX (or if there are any differences), since I don't use AAX or ProTools.

Also keep in mind that the underlying framework of the two operating systems, applications, etc. are different (on Windows and OSX).
So the 'same' application, plugin type, etc. can sometimes work better under Windows. Sometimes better under OSX ...

Just found some small print highly unadvertised page for system requirements for Reaktor 6 Player.. (they list basic requirements but nothing about the OS & usage until you can find the link) Pro Tools 10 for Win, Pro Tools 11 for Mac if you want to use the AAX plugin - which is kind of weird/stupid. If they're coding a native AAX plugin then why make two separate iterations? One for PT 11 and another for 10, then restrict them per OS.. They've shot themselves in the foot their in my opinion.

I only use 6 purely because it runs so much better on Windows than 5. Reaktor 5 is always crashing the machine and giving it corrupt memory (multiple Windows machines have had this as to my knowledge). I guess I'll have to print screen settings and re-enter them each time I have to swap OS.

Not sure if this might be because of different plugin support on the Windows and OSX version of ProTools.
But it's best to contact NI support about this directly (see link in my previous post).

The thing is Pro Tools 10.3.8+ allows native AAX support across all OS platforms, so really it shouldn't be a problem as it never has been with any other plugin manufacture. Yeah I'm going to - I've just bought a few bits from NI today too but this has put a road block in the way for me.. I'm now hoping they'll find me a solution.
