Reaktor as a VST MIDI processor ?

Hi there, first post, just starting patching with Reaktor. Using it as a VST in Ableton Live 11.
I was wondering if there was a way to make Reaktor a "MIDI FX", meaning it could just process MIDI inside one Live track.
So far I only managed to save an instrument, and grab its MIDI output from another track, but I'd like an "insert" MIDI FX.
    Am I missing something ?

Oh read here.. not sure if this is still the case
    https://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/7833/

"Warning; does not play nice when more than one key is pressed at the same time (a Reaktor limitation). Also, this is a midi effect, not all DAWs readily support a Reaktor patch in a VST as a midi effect, eg. in Ableton you will need 2 instrument tracks and then set the input of the synth to the OctoDactylus track _and_ device."

    Eya welcome to the forums!

iirc (I could be mistaken) you were (are?) also active on the Ableton forum back in the day, right? I stopped visiting there so I don't know the current situation, hence me asking.

    Unfortunately this is not possible.

Reaktor only manifests itself as an instrument or audio effect which means that in both cases Live only uses outgoing audio. So you'll always have to apply a work around to get more out of that setup. In my opinion Max for Live is still the best solution when it comes to building MIDI effects for Live, another alternative could be the reajs plugin but that requires the use of Javascript.

Absolutely not, there's no such thing as a dumb question. Thing is that it's sometimes easy to overlook a thread. I'm more active with Maschine than Reaktor for example and once you saw a new thread in the 'new' section it'll disappear from there which makes it harder to find it again (whenever you didn't remember the thread yourself).

    Hopefully this answers your question.

waaaait a minute... if this is true, then surely the question "Was it a so dumb question ?" is a dumb question? is this a dumb question paradox?

Thanks a lot ! That's me indeed, still active in what's left from Ableton Forum...Nice to see you here !
Well, that's what I was afraid of, no "midi FX" version of Reaktor means it cannot be used as a regular MIDI FX in Live.
That's funny that ehdyn pointed me to this particular device, because that's very close to what I had in mind : a note probability device. I noticed that, in Max for Live, Automation is placed in a lower priority than midi notes. Practically, it means that you cannot really draw automation per note (it always happens "after" the note). Instead, you have to draw automation a little early to have effect on the next note.
I was wondering if it was the case in Reaktor, if there was a way to make automation prior to notes without delaying the notes.
Unfortunately the device "Tom Midi Mangler" seems to shift incoming MIDI notes (always playing with the previous note's pitch).

Cool! Small world indeed :) Yah, I miss the old days but didn't enjoy myself over there anymore and thus "fled" to this place (buying into Komplete & Maschine also helped of course :p). They even allow us to chatter about Live in the general chat section so...I'm good. For Max stuff I basically use the Cycling '74 forums, much more mature IMO.

Now, I probably shouldn't start about Max in here (seems very out of place :D) but one small suggestion shouldn't hurt I think: have you tried using [defer] and/or [deferlow] to try and get everything (roughly) at the same priority? It takes getting used to and you'll have to be careful because once you defer a section there's no going back so to speak. But it might help shift everything into the same priority setting.

If you want to discuss this some more then I suggest dropping me a PM about it.

Hmm, doesn't Live also have a probability setting these days as well? I recall having read that in the changelog (but so far haven't had the time to experiment on it), I wouldn't be surprised if that mechanic eventually found its way into Max for Live as well, though that's a wild guess for sure.

Of course that's not of much help right now, but you may not need a 'randomizer' device if you also use Live 11.

every time someone has a question about how to get something in reaktor to work within some context-dependent confines set by their host, i thank myself for using reaper, which has no use for such distinctions, and feel glad i have no idea what they're talking about

Thanks ehdyn . But I am far from a beginner in M4L development.
    ShelLuser :
Live indeed has note probability now. But it's per note, and I'd want to set up a probability and keep the gate open or closed as long as the probability setting doesn't change. To make "possible little patterns", or simply random drum rolls.
Regarding [deferlow] it's been my first try and it doesn't have any effect.
