HI all. Any help greatly appreciated, please excuse my technical ignorance. I have been using Reaktor 5 quite happily for several months. Today when I opened it I am suddenly experiencing strange behaviour and can't get it working as before. It's hard to explain exactly what the problem is but I'll try my best....
Essentially, when I open an instrument now it defaults to the edit panel, rather than the instrument panel. When I switch to a different synthesiser or sound generator, it adds the new instrument into the edit window, rather that taking me to it. If I switch back to the panel both instruments are now side by side(?) with no sound coming out of either.

I also keep getting a message saying: "CHANGE ALERT - You have made a change which cannot be saved by the host application. If you want to use this edited version next time when loading this song please use 'create local copy' in order to save it in a file and to enable automatic saving of future changes to this file"

This is not a message I have ever seen before and I'm not sure quite what it is I am supposed to have done to cause its appearance.

This has all rendered it unusable and I'm desperate to get it back to a working state. Any quick fix tips? Otherwise how do I go about completely uninstalling/reinstalling?

Any help VERY gratefully received! Cheers.

firstly the change alert is normal when using Reaktor as a plugin in any DAW.

i suggest you create a 'local' copy as suggested. just save with an amended name of the Ensemble.

secondly load Ensembles - .ens - not Instruments - .ism.

what version of Reaktor are you using?

I was having exactly the same problem. The strange thing is that I didn't use reaktor for a while but when I opened it yesterday it worked fine, I changed few instruments and then all of sudden, I start pressing the keys on my MIDI keyboard and I noted that no sound was coming out. I closed down without saving what I was doing, restart the computer, tried differed sound card and nothing seemed to work.

But now that I am opening the ENS files and not ISM, things seems to be back to normal.

Why the ism files does not work? Something I did? Never had this problem before.

Well, thanks SOWARI ;) big help

to be honest, you were always supposed to open Ensembles which is why long time Reaktor users have never had this problem.

one of the updates - maybe 5.5? - might have has some auto wiring that enabled this to work, i really don't know :S.

anyway, always load an .ens file and always use the 'create local copy' if you intend to make any changes to an Ensemble - and that includes making your own Snapshots!

Somehow I had never before noticed that each of the instruments was listed in different folders as both .ens and .ism files.

This seems to have cleared it up, thank you so much!

Glad I asked before flinging my Macbook out the window.
