Reaktor in Ableton Live

howdy

I have been using reaktor as a plug in inside ableton, and so far every live set that I have loaded reaktor into and saved, renders that track usless. When I say usless, I mean no matter how I load the live set, the program crashes and I get a error "the program live has quit unexpectedly".

does anyone know what is going on? Is there anyway to recover my work?

How should I go about using reaktor inside ableton?


Ps I have tried using the plug in inside pro tools and am able to still open the session that it is in, so my problem seems to be just in ableton. All other ableton sets that do not have reaktor inside them load fine. wtf?

What version Live? What version Reaktor? PC or Mac?

You can try mailing the crashing Live sets to support at Ableton...

Ok, if you are using PC, try switching your audio driver to ASIO4ALL and see if that helps. Also, you may want to try reinstalling Live. I use Live 6 on PC with Reaktor all the time, and have had no problems, with one notable exception. I run an EMU 1212m soundcard, and if sample rates are unmatched, it can cause crashes, particularly with Reaktor.

Still, I have very few probs like that in Live. My hunch is that Live may have gotten corrupted. That happened to me once. It caused quite a mess.

Even with the new Live 7.01 this has not been fixed, the Reaktor update didn't make any difference either.

It's very tiresome, let's hope for the best ! Now I, and I'm sure a lot of other people ( come on, Speak UP !) cannot even use our payed-for Live update.

 

I use reaktor in Ableton 6.0.1 with no problems. wrt/ the keyboard thing, cursor keys and numeric entry, text entry in macro names, and pin names &c all work fine for me. What doesn't work? Note entry?

edit: never mind. I figured it out. I'm using 6.0.1, not 6.0.10. Never realized there was an update. :-/ Hmm. Glad I figured this out before I upgraded to 7.

 

Yep, 6.0.10 here and no love...I can keep it from crashing but no MIDI out from Reaktor (main reason I would use Live over Logic in my case). Quite annoying given I cannot find a earlier version of Live to download.

 

Somebody on the ableton forum claims that this issue is fixed with Live 7.0.1+Reaktor 5.1.4. Can anyone confirm that?

I was planning upgrading to Live 7 last weekend. But if I can't build in Live, it's a showstopper.

On Intel Mac: Live 6.10 = dont try, crashing. Live 6.07 is stable.

I have both Live 7.0.1+Reaktor 5.1.4.
no crash but you can't type any value with the keyboard in reaktor as a plugin
it works as a VST fx in wavelab

 

A good suggestion from Ableton support: try the 7.0.1 demo. I did, and I experience the same problems.

Confirmed. Live 7.0.1 (demo) + reaktor 5.1.4 -> no keyboard input. pretty much renders reaktor useless in live. :-(

 

Live 6/7 and Reaktor VST Plugin Problem

You are not deluded at all, guys 'n' gals.
The problem is real.

I work with Live 6.0.9 and Reaktor 5.1.4.002. There the bug is not present, i.e. I can use the computer keyboard in Reaktor.
However, when I use Live 6.0.10 (on the same computer, as I have both Live ver. installed on it) with the same Reaktor 5.1.4.002, the bug is there.
I will not AND NEVER upgrade to Live 7 UNLESS the bug is fixed.

 

To be honest, I never really understood the issue with this. Is it that you want to enter values for sliders as numerical values? Why not just use the sliders?

 

The much more serious issue is that you can't rename pins or type into info panels, or name macros. That makes building impossible in Live. And it's hard to build reaktor effects if you can't pump something through it while you're building. Most of my stuff gets built compositionally in live. A mixture of effect building, and sequencing. I can't upgrade to live 7 'tll this is fixed. A shame becaue I'd definitely like to use the new sidechaining feature in 7.

 

you talking about dragging the mouse up and down ?
it don't work for all parameters ( even in standalone )
take the parameters of a knob for example
you can drag with the mouse the values of "mouse resolution" or "number of steps" but you can't change min or max of the range
and it's especially the kind of parameter i want to change !
