while spiral works fine in standalone it does not put any midi out in other hosts, Kore and Ableton in particular. I have tried both with correct configurations and am not getting any midi out of spiral. The 'midi out' and 'Ext' red leds are on but still nothing..

    any ideas?

    thanks

    ?

Works here in both. Try selecting plugin under activate MIDI out in Spiral's properties...

maybe you need to show screenshots with your structures, because it is working here.

yeah I know it works for everyone else..

I tried selecting plugin as midi out as well.

here's a picture of the Kore config. can't see anything wrong myself. same in ableton I just set a synth to pick-up midi from the channel spiral is in.

    are you on a Mac?

if so, try the VST (not AU) versions of the Reaktor Plugins.

also try the version in the Pic with Spiral 2 - that seems to work better.

btw, you version worked on my Mac, i just made sure i was using the vst Reaktor plugin for Spiral.

indeed the vst works fine sowari.

so what do we learn from this one? do vsts generally behave better than au's? I always thought the opposite since they are supposed to be mac native, right?

    thanks

what we learn here is that NI are a bit vst centric, and that Kore behaves better with the vst versions of NI plugins ;) indeed, if you load a Reaktor .ksd sound, i am 100% sure it will be a vst version.

in Ableton Live, i have also found that NI's vst versions behave better.

I think it's not so much that NI's VSTcentric (nice word, Phil :) ); it's more that it's easier to get cross-platform compatibility in hosts using VST as the baseline...

Actually, what the problem is (as I have discussed elsewhere), the original Apple AU spec DID NOT include the passing of MIDI between and out of plug-ins. Has nothing to do (at least in this case) with a designers or manufacturer's 'preference', simply a lack of feature in one particular format.

You will note that in the case of Logic a third category 'MIDI FX' is included to address the lack by having a instrument that responds to MIDI and processes an audio side chain (thus a MIDI controllable effect). Of course the software creator has to provide this alternative version (as is the case with Reaktor).
