    Hi,

I recently ran the Reaktor 5.6 update (Reaktor5_560U_OSX) (I own Komplete7) and restarted my Mac.

It's a few days later now but I open the one project I use Reaktor on and get a message in Logic9:

    Plug-in "Reaktor5" not available!
And sure enough, my Reaktor sound is not playing and the word "Reaktor" on the IO slot is crossed out.

Right, I have to do the 32-bit dance. Restart Logic9 in 32-bit mode so it finds rechecks the 32-bit Reaktor plugin. I didn't know it was 32-bit, but it must be else this wouldn't have happened.

On thing I have happen (not with Reaktor though) is some plug-ins when updated confuse Logic so I have to:

    -Remove plug-in in question
-Start Logic (so it sees plug-in is gone)
    -Quit Logic
-Then put plug-in back, restart Logic so it rescans and then all is good

Has happened a few times here with misc updates, maybe it will help wiih your problem?

I have to do the same dance Loopy does now and then. Worst was when updating FM8 from a fresh Komplete installation, and I had to remove the AU cache to get Logic to recognise it, and still it only worked after a reboot. A reboot! It's like the dark ages :)

Reaktor *is* 64-bit. If it's showing only the 32-bit version it's time to clear the AU cache: Remove "~/Library/Caches/com.apple.audiounits.cache". Remove Reaktor, run Logic, install Reaktor, upgrade, run it, activate if needed, run Logic again. Maybe reboot if this doesn't work!

Right, thanks. Well I just double-clicked on Reaktor5 and it opened the 32-bit bridge interface.

Did it become 64-bit very recently? - as I only installed it as part of Komplete7, 2 months ago for the first time. So installing/reinstalling is almost not an option - although I know it's probably possible - which of the 12 disks do I insert, I don't know ;) Yep, just confirming, it's only showing in the 32-bit section of AU instruments.

I'm also just a bit worried that if I modified the sound bank I have chosen (pretty sure I did), that it's not gonna come back if I do manage to clear the cache and it switches to the new 64-bit version of the plugin, it's probably gonna show a cross through my 32-bit plugin and I won't be able to get the sound back? I can go in and save the one I know about but I don't know where else I've used it.

PS I hope nobody uses this forum software in Firefox on a Mac - the textbox gets very confused - basically doesn't work. I can't see a forum to mention it.

Also, apologies for previous question, I thought I'd searched but found this thread helped solve the problem without uninstalling anything...

    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140007

That is, reset the AU plugins in Logic in 32-bit mode, then restart in 64-bit mode. then restart the machine. All of those are required before I would see Reaktor5 in 64-bit mode AU instrument section.

Although a word of warning with the Audio Interface Manager in Logic. Being "checked" isn't the same as being "selected" - very odd to have both, but be sure to "select" the reaktor plugins with the mouse/keyboard (ignore the checkboxes) before hitting the reset button

use the Get Info Mac feature on the Reaktor App, to find out if Reaktor is set to 64 Bit or 32 bit if the 32 box is ticked.

If you update it you should be getting something like this:
    https://img.skitch.com/20110616-csykik1htakjap2rdcma2a1r5s.png

Launch the Service Center app and make sure you actually apply the update. Why it's not able to upgrade the apps automatically I'll never understand :(

Program installations and settings are not stored in the same locations. If you have some custom ensembles in Reaktor, save them in your Documents folder. I think it goes there by default on both platforms anyway.

I have saved some of the default ensembles after modifying them, and I got the option to include everything. A fully self-contained copy of the ensembles stored safely away from careless updaters is possible :)
