We recorded our last performance and put it online. It's the first track in the player. 100% Reaktor. 100% Live. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I'm working on finishing up the drum machine that was used in this set, so I can post it to the user library. More to come...

yes, i was gonna say id like to know/see what reaktor ensembles you used on this stuff (homemade im guessing). i listened to the 4 songs on your site at work last nite in full and im very impressed, as i said its kinda what im working on too, and it would be great to see what you used to make you noises.

The sequencers are all home-grown. I haven't gotten into synth building just yet (and bothering my comrade with it has proven futile)... so the synths are all others' creations... Uranus, Fourious, Distorsis, Manga, 3X, to name just a few.

The percussion box in our setup is nearing bug-free status, and I will release it as soon as it's solid and well-documented. Everything in our setup is run by a central clock with specialized OSC syncing capabilities, which still needs some bug fixing as well.

The note sequencer is far from finished... many features have been disabled because they are too buggy. This is more of a long-term project.

    Long nights ahead!

yeah everytime i try to make a note/pitch sequencer in reaktor it comes out too annoying/fiddly to use for editing. i usually just use it for storing live-played midi notes.

    had a listen aswell

well its, definately interesting and reading that others dig the glitchyness, makes me more interested as I am new to this game and have been struggling to make commercial resembling music, and thinking of squarepusher while listening to your piece, I have to question my methods and means also I wish to ask about how planned the beats are or do you just pop a sample in and let a randamiseer do all the work (obviously)to compose every beat would be ludacris I think:) still I like it, strangely, do you think it would sell?

    Re: had a listen aswell

With our current software, composing the core elements live is a bit out of reach. That still must be done by drawing into table with a mouse. What we're doing live is arranging and morphing between related beats, usually just a few of them, no more than 2 bars long (morphing yeilds a virtually unlimited number of variations), and tweaking every parameter available. I have one of those Behringer BCR2000s with 32 rotary controllers, and I've still run short on knobs. In addition to tweaking by hand, we have a probability function that can be applied at differing levels of severity to any parameter we choose via an lfo, or as a delay/gate on sequence events. It's especially useful for subtle organic variations.

As you can probably tell from the recording, our live sets are very beat-centric. That is mostly because of the current limitations of our note sequencing software. It's nowhere near as advanced as our beat machine.

A long-term project in the works will allow us to actually compose from scratch in real-time. This is a radical approach that is completely different from our current methods, and at this point is all theory. If this method pans out, we'll be able to compose and modify rhythms with nothing but the twist of knobs. This is the holy grail, by my standards.

Commercially viable? I have no idea. All I know is that we're being booked on a regular basis in the downtown LA circuit, although getting paid has been tough. The album will be much more coherent than the live recordings, as it should be. Less random wankery, to be sure. Right now, I'm just enjoying the ride and building better tools every chance I get. Each upgrade in our software makes our performances tighter and richer, and there is no horizon in sight. I figure we'll start to make money when we deserve to.

I'm nnot having much luck downloading these tracks.Right clicking on the Download link gives me a Flash menu, left clicking takes me to a "no page to display". Using WinXP on a PC. Any ideas?

Hmm. Left-clicking should simply download the mp3 to your drive. You might get a blank page as well, depending on your browser. IE6 on Windows XP handles this just fine. Which browser are you using?

In any case, here's the index of all tracks:

thanks, that did the trick.Listening now. Nice and gritty so far with that certain amount of chaos that threatens to bring it all down to a quivering mess at any minute.Do people attempt to dance to it? If so are they suffering from any mental illnesses ?

I'm listening to the first bits of this while watching a compiler running across my transparent blue OSX terminal. It makes perfect sense..!

Not my style of music at all though. Where's the chorus?!

    OMG

Just realised I had the track playing both as an MP3 in a seperate Safari window and in the flash player. Twas a mess...

Not bad at all. I like those sounds. Still not something that will grab my attention, though. I'm too conventional.

Heh, as far as I know, the crowd during that performance was all mentally intact. I only looked up once or twice during the show, and it was so dense around us that I could only see 6 or 7 people, but I saw some erratic wiggling, intense head-nodding, booty-shaking, and I think I saw someone shimmying. If you think that's crazy, you should see me do an interpretive dance to Autechre's Gantz_Graf. Yeah.

I remembered I never commented on this after I downloaded it. It's wicked good.
Gets better the second time ya listen. I love the segues - very organic and natural. Good buildups and breakdowns.
