    Hello all.
I am a noobie on this stuff, so sorry for the potentially dumb question, but I have a problem using KK in Reaper.

Up until now I've been using KK as standalone with my s88.
I downloaded Reaper and installed it.
In the Preferences, VST I looked for the x64 plugins of NI, found them and added them.
In the Preferences, Midi Devices, I marked all 3 of "Komplete Kontrol -1", "Komplete Kontrol EXT-1" and Komplete Kontrol DAW-1" on Enabled+Control in the input section and as Enabled on the output section.

I create a new Track, press FX, select KK
The KK opens, I press browse on my s88 as normal and everything works. I navigate to an instrument, (for example the grandeur), as I browse the presets, I can hear the preview sound, and the levels on the track mixer goes up.
I select the preset, the instrument loads.
The instrument is open, the knobs on the s88 respond normally, BUT it doesn't make any sound. I press keys on the s88 and nothing happens. Only the knobs work, not the keybed.

What am I doing wrong? Could you please tell me the steps I should take to solve this?
    Thank you in advance!

In Reaper to Monitor a VSTi, "Record Monitoring" has to be ON, and the "Record" button has to be armed (on)
And make sure the input midi channel matches.

    Hope this helps.

I think you need to set DAW-1 to Control only, not Enabled+Control. This one is used for host integration, not MIDI output. EXT-1 is probably MIDI output, but if you're connected via USB, you would just use the default "Komplete Kontrol -1" as your main MIDI input for recording in a DAW.

Thank you so much for the responses!
I enabled record monitoring and armed the track and everything seems fine!
    Thank you again!

    Hi, glad it's working.

However EvilDragon is right and you need to understand the role of each of the 3 drivers.

    1) The KK-EXT-1 refers to the external MIDI in/out. If you don't use an external synth or keyboard, there's no need to enable it at all.

    2) The KK-1 is what controls the keys for playing and the knobs for controls in MIDI mode.

    3) The KK DAW-1 controls the transport buttons.
The way you have it configured now (Enabled+Control), you can manually assign the buttons for transport.
But there is a better solution:
First you have to disable the KK DAW-1 in the Preferences, Midi Devices input and output. !Important!

Then still in Preferences go down to OSC/Surface ... add a control surface and select Mackie Control Universal.
Set the MIDI in and out to KK-DAW-1.

    Enjoy the good looking transport.:)

I did all the steps Jazzy told, but for me the buttons on my S49 are still darf and nothing happens when I press them.

The configuration of the KK-DAW-1 as a MCU device only seems to work with the old Mk-I, not the Mk-II, which no longer supports MCU. There‘s a long thread about this lack of MCU.

    So, I guess your S49 is a Mk-II? Because my Mk-I works.

Does it only work for you in MIDI mode? I find that mine does nothing when connected to a Maschine instance, yet it works when connected to a Komplete Kontrol instance.

No, it works not only in midi mode. Sure you have to load the Komplete Kontrol as VST and not the Instrument itself as VST - but that is normal. Otherwise it can not provide needed information to the keyboard.

It works like e.g. in Ableton, but with Reaper.

Interesting; the Komplete Kontrol VSTi works, yet the Maschine VSTi does not.

So far I did not load Maschine as VST in Reaper. Have to test it. For my purpose I did never use Maschine inside Reaper - and what tracks then should be managed by play/stop etc? - Reaper's or Maschine's?

The transport (play/stop etc) should control both, simultaneously; when the DAW is 'playing', Maschine is playing too, they're synced.
