Received K9U with single USB cable - HD is not recognized on my iMac

    I received my Komplete 9 Ultimate Crossgrade the other day, and to my ultimate disappointment, the HD is not being read by my iMac or my 2 other PC's. When plugged in, the light on the HD comes on and I can hear it whirl, but nothing. It doesn't show up under Disc Utility either.

    I did only receive the single USB cable, not the Y cable. I'm wondering, for those of you who installed K9U, is that second USB connection required to fuel the HD on an iMac? It's certainly possible I received a defective HD, but if I can just go and spend 10 bucks on a new cable, I will do that.

    I just received my K9U crossgrade and I too received the single usb cable and not the Y. Is it supposed to work with the single cable?

    I have the exact same problem. I don't even hear my hard drive whirl. Just the blue light comes on.

    I also didn't get a Y-cable, just the single port.

    I tried this on my new iMac and my macbook air, with no luck.

    I'm having the exact same problem on PC Win8.

    I'm pretty upset. I'm probably just going to grab a double USB cable... they absolutely shipped it with a single USB cable knowing good and well it's not enough to power the drive. WTF.

    Contacted support on Tuesday and have yet to hear back (understandably so with Christmas and all). Pretty surprising that they would send the wrong cable when all the documentation preaches the use of the Y cable..... uggghhh

    I have the exact same problems as all of above. I even purchased a powered USB hub and it still doesn't work. I even purchased the Komplete 9 Ultimate Crossgrade from this website and I had to wait near 3-weeks to receive this problem. No one responded yet from tech support.

    Has anyone found a 3rd party cable solution? I would be happy to run out to the store and buy one?

    That does not work, because I called NI and they said that the disk was faulty. The disk has to be replaced. So they are giving me a shipping label from Fedex so I can return it. Give them a call. If you are calling within the USA,
    you can call toll-free: 1-866-556-6487 We have to wait another 3-4 weeks;(

    You've got to be kidding me. :-/

    Well... I already ordered a Y cable, had it overnighted so it will be here tomorrow. I'll let you gentlemen know if it works out for me.

    This is total BS btw... what's the point of taking advantage of a sale if you have to wait 4 weeks to get something that doesnt work.

    I even purchased a powered USB hub and the disk still didn't work. This was the last alternative according to the manual.
    ...and you have to wait another 4-weeks or more because you have to send the faulty disk back. When they receive the disk, it is then when they will send us another disk. So keep your fingers cross and hope that the new disk work. A total turn around for installation due to a faulty disk seems to be a least 2-months. I purchased Komplete 9 Ultimate back in November.

    Yesterday, I waited on the phone for about 45-minutes before I could even speak with a tech support person and I still have not received that e-mail from them to print the free shipping label for Fedex. Who knows when that return process begins. Heck... High speed internet can download 300gigs in about a day or so. Just turn the computer on and let it go. Anything is better than waiting for 2-months. I purchased Komplete-9 from the NI web store. So heck...just let us return the whole product to a near by dealer!!! Isn't it all the same??? Why inconvenient us??? As long as the dealer gets paid, that's all that matter.

    Same problem here - single USB cord, just see the blue light and get no response on the explorer. Drive seems to be spinning but can't tell if it's spinning fast enough. Tried it on three different computers. Major fail. Waited 4 weeks for the box to ship, and now this. Really irritated with NI right now.

    Same problem here: No "Y" cable, Blue light turns on but HDD not recognized by PC (Win 7-64bit)

    Tried on multiple computers.
    Plugged into powered USB hub, FSB and rear ports of PC.
    Updated USB drivers with Slimdrivers.

    Emailed tech support on Tuesday, December 24th and im hoping i can exchange this at a local music store rather than waiting for additional weeks. Purchased product directly from NI.

    Just got off the phone with tech support. I was told they no longer use the "Y" cable and want me to return the product and wait for a new one. I have one last ditch effort I'm going to try. I found a "Y" cable online that looks like it will fit this drive. It is supposed to arrive tonight. If It works, I will report back. If not... I wait and wait and wait....

    I spend $30 to have one overnighted to me. It's a Startech Y cable.

    I'm sad to report that it does not work. The blue light comes on.. the drive does not spin, Windows does not recognize it exists.

    I'll be calling NI first thing Monday. I cant afford to wait for them to get to my email.. this is total crap.
