I just recorded a mix and when I finished recording it gave me an error saying

ERROR: Cannot execute BPM-detection due to missing transients! Please analyze first"

I have recorded once or twice before a while back to just test it out, but I havent recording in like 4 months and now that I went to try it, it keeps giving me this error. I dont remember, but I might have messed around a bit with the settings...

Any help would be appreciated! Have a gig tomorrow and I want to record a small mix

Im mixing externally. I have it set recording internally, but when I even switched it to record the external it would give me the same problems
    ---
Ok, I switched my mixing mode to Internal and to record Internal and it worked. Superrr nooby question, but whats the difference between Internal and External? Is External for like when u use Midi?
    ---
Sorry for another question now.... I just recorded a mix and even tho my mixer is now set in internal mixing mode, The crossfader won't shown that it has my moved on Traktor, so I'm basically having to crossfade with my mouse... It ruined my entire mix

When you mix externally you have to record externally as well. For external recording you have to take an output from your external mixer and plug it into an input of your soundcard. You then have to set external record mode and select the input of your soundcard to record from. You will not be able to do this if your sig is correct as the audio 2 dj does not have inputs.

GRRR! So then if I get an Audio 4 DJ, I can use 3 decks and use the 4th to record? and if I want to use 4 decks and be able to record externally I need Audio 8 DJ?

the audio 4 has only 4 ins and outs = 2 stereo outs = two decks

but you use the cdj400 in hid mode you already have enough inputs to record externally since you only need two

    undetectable Transients

I am recording Vinyl/LP's to Cubase as WAV files.

When I play/import the WAV files to Traktor, after analyzing the track,
    the message reads "please analyze the files first, TRANSIENTS ARE UNDETECTABLE" [paraphrased];
prohibiting Traktor from reading proper BPM, therefore disables sync mode and reliable loop tricks :(
In other words, the WAV file in Traktor looks very thin and weak.

    My question is:
How can I get the best TRANSIENT readings when I transfer music from vinyl to WAV or mp3(320kbps)?

    * I thought the problem was the vinyl's overall volume, so
I use L3 limiter with mild threshold (I avoid over compressing) on the sound's input channel to get -0.1 db output for the recorded WAV file. The Cubase WAV graphic shows healthy read of up-and-down, peaks-and-lows (transients?).

This actually improved Traktor's detection of transients, HOWEVER, the WAV form still looks weaker than files from CD's (looks louder with clearer transients and peaks) even though the vinyl file and the cd file is aurally the "same volume (0db peak, no clipping)".

    Again,
what is the best method for getting clean and clear transients, while having a loud overall sound, when transferring sound from vinyl to digital?
