when should the midi control button be in use vs when it should not be im a lil confused

manny, you kee p making the same point on upto 4 threads. this makes it very difficult to follow and help. please just stick to one thread :|

and there are no details as to exactly what you did? what drums did you load up?

    why did you assign busses?

what do you mean by one solid wave?

you could always do a screen shot.

sorry i will stick to this one, but i loaded up some drums on my hd i assigned buses because i read here on the forum if you want to used maschine to record in logic you need one instrument track and one audio track and to have the bus going out in the instrument tracks to the bus going in on the audio track, and the one solid wave i was speaking of is when you record in logic but yo can disregard that, i just remembered thats how it supposed to be

you need to be more specific. did you load the drums into Maschine? which Buss did you assign as the Output from the Maschine Track? and the Audio track, did you assign the Same buss as the Input?

also, there are 2 types of Recording in Logic, MIDI and Audio, you need to be crystal clear as to which one you are talking about.

anyway, from you above description - you want to record Audio from Maschine into Logic, yes? it seems you have set it up correctly, but maybe you haven't? Screenshots would help.

btw, with the 1.1 Update you can Drag n Drop Audio from Maschine into Logic. again, this is described in the 1.1 Update Manual. Have you read that?

yes i loaded the drums into maschine off my hd a few days ago when i was using maschine as a standalone and i saved the group, and loaded it back up today

    i assigned buss # 1 for both

as far as recording both midi and logic what do you mean which one im talking about? i believe i need to do both, since i want to be able to record into logic using logic sounds maschine sounds and the sounds from my motif and any other source of sounds

im not sure if you call what i want to do recording audio from maschine into logic because i only want to use maschine to control logic or use it for its sound as a vst every now and then

no camera on this macpro and yes ive read the manual

Re: Screenshots Press Apple Command + Shift + 4. your cursor will turn into something a bit different. drag a rectangle over the area you want to take a photo of and let go. there will be a picture on your desktop.

if you set the Output of Maschine to buss 1 and and try to record to an Audio track
by setting buss as an Input, then you are recording Audio.

if you are using the Maschine Controller to record Notes into Logic, then you are recording MIDI.

and what do you mean by "i only want to use maschine to control logic"?

anyway, i have enclosed a screenshot:

i mean basically i dont want to use maschine for anything but for a controller or vst

and in regards to the screen shot, those are channels needed to do exactly what i want to do? which is record in logic and use maschine as a controller and sometimes using maschine sounds?

and also do i have to use ultrabeat for drum patters? or is recording in the logic seq fine? which one is better or should i say preferred if any?

what else could you use maschine for but for a controller or vst?

the screen shot is purely for recording Audio from maschine into Logic.

and what has Ultrabeat got to do with this? and recording what in the Logic Sequencer? is this to do with Maschine?

    standalone?

i was just asking about ultra beat, if it was required in terms of making drum patterns in logic but i guess not especially since im going to be using maschine

it is up to you whether you use Ultrabeat.

and i thought you were just talking about Maschine and Logic on this occasion.

yea it helped me i actually got it recording in logic, its just that its off the timing is all off, what i record is not whats playing back at all huge latency/delay type feeling...also just so i know im doing this right when recording in logic using maschine as a plugin you have to use the play/record button in logic correct? you cant use the buttons on the maschine as u would in stand alone? and also when you do record does a box pop up on your screen when recording?

when using Maschine as an AU Plugin in Logic:

the Logic Transport starts and stops Maschine.

if you press Record in Logic, then you will record a MIDI Sequence in Logic. but to do that the Maschine Controller should be in MIDI Mode - press Shift + Control.

if you are using the Maschine Controller to play the Maschine Software (similar to the same way you do in Standalone Mode), then if you press Rec on the Maschine Controller, you will record stuff onto Maschines Patterns Sequencers.

    does that make sense?

out of interest, are you using your Audiobox USB by Presonus to hear the sound from Logic?

    Recording Maschine in Logic

    Dear Sowari -

i would really appreciate if you could provide a step-step-guide to

    a) record Maschine-patterns as MIDI in Logic (if i do, i manage to record midi information but NO corresponding sounds) How do i get my Maschine patterns as MIDI into Logic?

    b) record AUDIO via the channel strips (via busses?)

My aim would be to e.g. record teh midi files of an isolated Maschine-group.

    THank you!

I am having trouble with this. I know how to record Audio, but how do I get it to record Midi – either by just playing the Maschine live or playing back scenes.

I have my Maschine midi track set up in Logic.
I can see sound coming in.
When I record nothing happens other than it playing back whatever scene it is on.

I am confused by Midi mode. When I put it in that mode there is no sound and none of the templates seem to be right?

you can't record MIDI from Maschine into Logic because AU plugins do not allow this.

with the current 1.5 public beta version you can Drag n Drop Maschine Patterns into Logic as MIDI Data.

and you still have the choice of Drag n Dropping Audio from Maschine into Logic.

btw, with the 1.5 update you can run Maschine as a Standalone and have Logic send MIDI clock to drive Maschine in sync with Logic. with that setup it is possible to send MIDI out from Maschine into Logic usig Maschine's virtual MIDI port or the Mac's IAC Driver.
