Before I get into routing and all that in Cubase can I record 8 separate midi tracks into Cubase 5 like I do in Ableton live 8? In Live we know that you can record midi data into Lives sequencer moving notes changing notes ect just like if it were an Ableton Midi instrument. Is this the same for Cubase or will it only take Cubases outputs as Audio only not midi?

you can do this in Cubase, but i can't help you with that because i don't use Cubase. i think there are a couple of threads about it if you try Search.

but why are you not using Drag n Drop?

I like it the midi note way because of the easy changes I can make later. I'm stuck with my drag and drop audio and need to be sure I love it before I export:) The way I do it in Ableton with the tutorials I found in here via St Joe an another fellow work well for me. Thanks though!

Setting midi to record in Cubase couldn't be much simpler. Just load Maschine as a vst instrument in the rack and open a midi track. Make Maschine the input and output . Tap the pads and midi records in Cubase!
