After a several year hiatus, I've just bought an S8 from a friend as a replacement for my broken DJM500, to move toward digital but still have the option of my trusty 1210's.

I've never considered recording before just played for fun, but now with Coronavirus, we've decided to record and release to the world.
Recording mixes to the Laptop, via the Pro3 software seems a doddle, but can anyone recommend a solution for recording the 1210's also.
I'm guessing I'll need an external sound card for the laptop and connect that via the Booth output. Any recommendations?
    Cheers

Yo, I have the same setup, S8 with 2 x 1210 turntables connected. The two centre channels A and B are used for mixing digital songs stored on the laptop, the two outer channels C and D are used for the turntables.

When mixing using them as normal turntables (mixing vinyl) I use the direct thru function (little orange button under the gain knob). Now the S8 is a normal mixer and you can mix away happily.

When using the turntables to play timecode vinyl I use the same C and D channels, not direct thru, but switch decks using the 'deck' button (bottom left or right button) on the mixer. This allows your digital song to be played using the timecode vinyl and you can see the waveform etc ... on the screen of the S8.

Once you've got this sorted, you should be able to use the record function to record any mixes you do, regardless if you're mixing mp3, timecode vinyl or normal vinyl.
