    Hi,
I recently bought GR2 and have messed around with it quite a bit. I'm hooked up to the hardware that came with it via USB to my laptop, and my guitar to input 1.

What is the most useful audio interface to use with this setup? (asio, direct, multimedia)

Using Multimedia or Direct, I can hear everything just fine- but when I go to record it with the tape deck and save it as a wav, it takes all the distortion and effects off of the recording when I play it back with a media player. Is there any way to export it so that it saves those effects?
And is there any way to get rid of the lag when I play, its probably a second or less, but very noticable.

    thanks in advance,
    Andres

ASIO is the only useable interface. Forget about the other two.

Set up the ASIO in and set your latency in the ASIO set up panel.

I get 2ms with my sound card.

    Okay, quick question on that-

When I select ASIO, I only see an option for output device, not an input.

Any help with the recording issue?

    Thanks

The ASIO driver will automatically be chosen there as well- latency is only dealing with the output.

To set up your inputs, click on the routing tab...

Okay, so I'm not sure if I did it right, but under routing and input, I have input 1 selected and it is connected. When I play my guitar, I don't hear any output coming out of GR2, the input and output meters are picking it up the sound, but nothing is produced.

The only way I can get GR2 to produce sound, is by using direct sound or multimedia and selecting GR2 as the input and my soundcard as the output. How do I do this with ASIO?

What do you have set for the outputs under the routing tab?
If you're using RK's ASIO drivers for your input, you have to use RK for your output as well...

Ohh my outputs are set to output 1 and output 2, which nothing is connected to.

Is there a way to connect that to my laptop? Or can I get another ASIO driver to use instead of GR2's?

    thanks

Why not set the outputs to 3 and 4? Those are the headphone outputs- then you can just wear headphones.

Sure, you could use ASIO4ALL or the like to add ASIO drivers to your machine's soundcard. Then, you'd use ASIO4ALL as your ASIO driver for GR2.

Thanks, still having a few issues.

At the moment, I dont have headphones to use, so that isnt an option yet.

I have my output device as ASIO4ALL v2 and thats all setup.
Under routing my only available inputs are "Not Connected 1 and 2".

When I go into GR2 with these settings it mights a high pitched amp noises and doesnt respond to the guitar. (which makes sense theres no input)

That's because if you're using ASIO4ALL, your guitar has to go in through your soundcard, and you have to set up ASIO4ALL to be using your soundcard's inputs.

I'd suggest you read the GR2, RK2 and ASIO4ALL manuals- they're very helpful.

I'v got ASIO running fine, but whenever I record with distortion, effects, ect it plays back in the tape deck just fine, but when I save that to a .WAV and play the .WAV, it sounds like a clean channel with no effects.

    Any ideas?

are you using the first tape deck or the second? doesnt the first tape deck record before the effects etc are applied? in which case you'd need to use the second tape deck
