    Hi All.

Thanks for the suggestions on how to record Limelite in Cubase SX3.

Here's somethings I learned along the way that might help you in your journey

By soloing the instrument I was able to isolate that instrument and record it.

I found a free recording plugin from Voxengo that you can insert as an effect on your outputted plugin track that will let you record it as a Wave File! Perfect huh?

    http://www.voxengo.com/product/recorder/

    1. You set up Limelight as a plugin.
    2. Assign it to a Midi Track
    3. Solo the instrument you want to record first
    4. Find the output audio track in the Mixer or look in the VST folder for Limelite.
    5. Click on the "e" button to get to the effect screen and select the Voxengo recorder as an effect plugin.
    6. Click start on Voxengo then click play in Cubase. Viola! You've recorded your plugin to a wave file!
    7. Import the Wav file created from voxengo into the project.

    PROBLEM! and Question

This all works well if your Kick starts on the first beat of the song because you can edit out the space from the time you clicked Start on Voxengo then Play in Cubase.

But what about your snare if it begins on the second beat?
How do you sync your Kick and Snare tracks?

I turned on the metronome in Cubase but it doesn't record onto to the same track as the instrument you're recording. It's routed to an audition track. It can be pointed to the same physical output track on your soundcard as the instrument but Cubase won't record from that track.

So now it's a Syncing question. How do I lock my separate Limelite audio tracks in Cubase SX3?

    Anyone?

    Hi

You would be better off recording the tracks using the tapedeck in standalone mode, as this can be synced to the clock.

But anyway, why are you using the taperecorder plugin..? why dont you just solo the desired drum and then use the cubase mixdown features? that way you can start/stop recording exactly on the bar..

    Thanks for responding James.

It just frustrates me that I have to go through all of that in Cubase because it won't initially let me capture the audio. It's always an annoying step that I have to go through with plugins. I record the midi, then do an audio mixdown to capture the audio which I see on a bus when I initially record the midi!

I was looking for another way around it because I would have to go through that same process for Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, Tie, and Pod.

I'm always looking for new ways to streamline my process, otherwise I'll get lazy and not want to use an instrument if I know I have to go through a million steps to produce a result.

    It's just me.
