you can use a free program called mp3gain to make your mp3's louder. It's a great program because there is no re encoding done so you never loose any quality and if you don't like the result you can easily reverse the changes.

Acceptable. It's not as good as the original ones..
    - you have scratches in the background
    - the high frequencies are little lower

but al-in all they are still good enough and (loud enough) to rock the party.

Stil.. I dont get why traktor is showing a very low waveform in the preview :/

If you use a quality interface and have a good ear for recording or proper reference you should be able to get it to sound same as the vinyl.

Never was a fan of Audacity but I would guess it can get these type of results.

    disagree.

the interface is the least important part. even onboard audio will be transparent in the vast majority of cases, and certainly all external interfaces i've seen will do. i can back this up with evidence if need be.

EDIT: in the above, i'm talking about the ADC. the phono preamp could potentially make a (small) difference.

No the phono preamp makes a huge difference. That is why a good quality soundcard is needed.

Thats right.. The Needle and the Preamp are most imp. I use a Ortofon Archive neelde.. which is good I think.

For the Preamp I've tried lots of different possibilites.. DJ Mixers (gemini and numark), Soundcard Phono Preamps, HiFi-Systems. After reading a lot of stuff in Internet I decided to use my Sony Home-HiFi Phono Preamp. Suprisingly I have the best results with that.

But a few days ago an expert friend of mine advised me to get this not-so-expensive piece: http://www.audio.de/testbericht/phono-vorverstaerker-dynavox-tpr-2-809504.html

(Also very important when you had a long club experience: Clean up your vinyl with distilled water and a microfiber towel before you record them).

Good advise. For those few tunes / remixes that I just can't find in digital format I ripped my vinyl. I bought some record cleaning solution (which is very diluted alcohol in very clean solution) and the micro-fibre cloth. Important for getting the cleanest sound out of your vinyls.
