I really want to get some mixes recorded but I just can't figure out how to configure my setup so that I can do it.

    My Equipment:
    • Traktor Scratch Pro
    • 2x Stanton Decks
    • Numark M2 Mixer
    • Audio 4 DJ
    • Surround Sound Speakers /w Subwoofer

This is how I have my equipment set up:

I understand as it is recording shouldnt work, I've tried switching my speakers to the record output on my mixer which didn't work, as well as some other things. The most I've got is a recording of the high pitch squeel that the timecode makes when it's playing on the deck.

So with my setup can I record? If so, I would like to know what to do to make it possible.

Any help would be much appreciated,
    Dan.

P.S. Sorry for double post, I realised I posted my first thread in the wrong place.

I'm not 100% sure how time coding works but I believe your input to your audio 4 is being used for your timecoding not for inputting audio.

I believe to input your audio for recoding you would need an extra audio input coming from your mixers record output to your computer.

You can't record internally with your setup as Traktor only recognises 1 audio interface (the Audio 4) and both stereo channels are used to get the timecode to control your tracks.

If you wan to record, you'll have to plug the "record" output on your mixer into the line input on your Laptop's soundcard (with an RCA to stero 3.5 Jack. and use separate software to record your set (if you're on Windows, my favourite free one is Wavosaur, and if you're on MAc, yo can record with Garageband and still free, you can use Audacity on both.
