    Hi,

Has anyone managed to record by only using the usb ? I think its a limitation and if so I really hope behringer address this issue because it would be sooooo much easier if we didnt have to mess around with the 'headphone out' socket on the iaxe.

If guitar combos see's the usb signal as a proper input, which it does, I cannot understand why we have to use the headphone socket to actually hear the sound ?

Im looking forward to selling my amp, pedals and other guitars because the iaxe and n.i. is the way i want to go from now on.

Ive had a reply from behringer stating that i can change pickups as long as the polepieces have the same distance. This means I can mod the iaxe to my exact requirements !

I just need to get rid of the headphone cable and use it as a standalone device..........

Try "asio4all" as your ASIO driver.
You'll be able to monitor on your computers speakers.

    Thanks marc,

The asio4all driver isnt anywhere near as good as the behringer usb driver, the asio4all still has latency and quality issues - the usb has no issues other than the fact that windows will not play it back simultaneously on the same machine.

I tried this software a long time ago and was put off by plugging in via the mic socket and trying to get no latency and good quality out of the asio drivers - the iaxe has solved all of this but recording is a mystery.

You can record with the ni tape deck but cannot hear yourself 'live' unless you monitor externally.

Ive just tried the asio4all drivers again and they are simply no good for me, latency and noise issues and my laptop mic socket does not like having a guitar plugged in.

USB Guitars are the way forward without a doubt but it needs to have a more flexible driver, i still cannot understand why i dont hear the usb feed when the ni software clearly recognises it. I think its purely a windows issue and not an ni issue.

I tried the 'stadium' preset on gr2 last night and was blown away. I never thought that software could do a high gain sound like that !

    Awesome.

Re: Recording with the iaxe ??

Hi, I have the iaxe guitar as well and the way I hear through the speakers is i am using a cord from the headphone jack on the guitar to line in on the sound card in my computer...then go to your mixer and under playback make sure the line in is selected and in recording as well and that works for me.
the on one end has the big jack and the other end has the little jack ..you can pick one up at Radio Shack or if your in Canada at The Source.

    Thanks disto,

I tried that and my laptop was ready to explode from excessive feedback. You need a decent full duplex soundcard for that.

By the way, im in the u.k. (uktwiddler).

    Cheers

So just to clarify - as a Mac user having got my iAxe yesterday - it's not possible to hear the guitar using the Guitar Combos unless I have something plugged into the headphone or line sockets??

This seems a bit odd since I can do this using GarageBand.

The above discussion seems to be from Windows users. have any Mac users been able to play/record with sound via USB only?

    TT.

GarageBand is the only app that aggregates in i/o. For other apps, you'll have to create an aggregate device driver through Audio/MIDI setup.

    Hmmmn.
i cant get guitar rig to even see the usb guitar in standalone mode.I tried it as a vst in a chain in abelton and was rocking out...I wanted to just be able to open up guitar rig and play through that on its own and no luck.I RTFM and followed the instructions ...btw i'm on a mac.
    Any suggestions? Any idears?

I did try the suplied behrenger edition on another machine and got it to play through the headphone jack as advertised but since i own guitar rig i wanted to use that instead.

You need to make an aggregate device with the iAxe as the input and the ac's built in output as the out. Choose the aggregate device in the audio/midi controls under Guitar Rig.

I'm using a PC and Guitar Rig with Cubase and thinking of buying an i-Axe. Does anyone know if it is possible to use the USB output for recording with this set-up?

Yes, you'll need ASIO4ALL, but it will work.

Thanks Marc. I've just tried Asio4all - it can't seem to allow for any output from cubase when using my Edirol UA-1EX external sound card. I can't see how I can monitor properly without this - any ideas anyone?

Recording by just using the given software?

    Hallo iAxe-Fans,

my white iAxe hangs on my wall and I want to record the sound produced by my chosen BritCombo with the given software "Kristal". But is there any way to use this given stand-alone Combo with Kristal? So it's not a Plug-in or anyhow effecting the sound recorded by Kristal. Even the Combo itself doesn't record the computed sound, does it?

    Thanks,
    Bassspieler
