I have an external mixer and the problem is, my mixer amplifies sound signals so high that when Traktor records it, the sound levels are too high and distorted. Anyone have any ideas?

I use an external mixer (old school Pioneer DJM-300) with a Audio 4 DJ:

    My Traktor Preferences:
Both my Output and Input Routing match. Channel A and B getting Left and Rights matched up. Recording prefs have me recording from Channel B.

I have one of my master outs from the mixer plugged into my channel B input on the A4DJ. The other is plugged into an input for my speakers.

I've tried lowering the gain on the audio recorder, the master gain in Traktor, playing with the volume knob on the front of the A4DJ, lowering the master volume level on my mixer....nothing. I even tried audio recorder programs for Mac but they can't record off the A4DJ directly. (I'm not going to try recording off my Mac's mic...because I probably will swear in the middle of set when I mess up hahaha)

Please guys, help me record from my setup!

Hmmm. Channel D won't work because the Audio4 only has 2 stereo inputs.

What 'In mode' do you have the Audio4 set to? Is it set to a vinyl mode and is therefore putting the sound through the phono pre-amp?

I have no idea what mode it could be in. Where/how do you change that setting? It could very well be that it is getting amplified to crap before the music is fed back to Traktor.

I haven't got an audio4. Basically you have the 'input mode' on the Audio4. If it is set to vinyl, then it will run the signal through a phono pre-amp which will warm up the sound. Set it to CD/Line. I'm not sure if there is a switch on the Audio4 or you may have to do it with the Audio4 settings utility included in your software.
