I need to re-format the HD on my laptop and re-load all of my software (P4/WinXPpro/2GB Ram). Do I need to deactivate all of my NI software first? I thought that deactivating NI software on a particular computer would NOT allow it to be reactivated on that computer ever again.
Please let me know the proper way to go about this so I can avoid any major problems and downtime!

    Thanks, Marc

    Hi Marc,

do not de-activate your products yet. I would finish your maintenance work first and then just activate the products again. If you see that new system ids have been created in your account or if you get an error message about too many "hardware profiles", you can de-activate the not used system ids.

By the way, the Registration Support can enable a de-activated profile for you in case you de-activated them by accident.

Thanks for the info Marius! Sounds simple enough. With R5, can I just install the most recent downloaded update (in my case 5.11), or do I need to start with the R5 install CD (update from R4, etc.)? Is this the same with ABSynth and Kontakt?

Nevermind! Question answered in the thread titled: "Reinstall OS - need to unregister Products and register again?"

R5, ABSynth3, and Kontakt 1.5 all re-registered very easily! Thanks NI!
I think I messed up the Pro53 install though (upgrade from Pro52). I used the downloaded Pro53 upgrade installer instead of the Pro52 CD first. It does run, but cannot find the MIDI map file. I cannot find that file either. I'll search for it on NI's site.
