If I was to completely uninstall Komplete on the two machines that are running it now and to reinstall it an the very same machines, do I have to like unregister the two installations or can I just reactivate the installs, as it is the same, machines ?

there is no un registering of NI software.

After you reinstall simply run NI Service Center again to activate.

You don't give enough detail about reinstalling to give you more detail.

I have two machines with Komplete 8 (standard) and a few libraries installed. As it was my first installation of Komplete on both machines, I probably made some errors where on the drive I installed the stuff (I have a dedicated Komplete drive and may have inadvertedly installed some of the libraries or plugins on other drives than my dedicated drive). I want to clean up this mess before I install Komplete 9 (ultimate).

So essentially want to completely uninstall everything Komplete and reinstall K8S - or maybe even wait till my K9U arrives this week and only install K9U and my 3rd party libraries ...

I am not sure if it is possible to install everything on a dedicated NI Drive that is not Drive C:

Just like the K8 installer, you are asked to provide three installation locations:
    1) Programs (and some content), which normally defaults to C:\Program Files\Native Instruments
    2) VST plugins locations (both 32- and 64-bit)
    3) Content/Library location

The first two don't really take up that much space (around 1GB if I recall), while the third locations is where most all the content is placed, including Kontakt Libraries.

You can uninstall Komplete 8 if you want.

    Hi, Thanx for your reply.

I know that some binaries will always go to the boot/os drive. In my case I may have installed some instruments to the boot/os drive while others ARE on the intended drive ...

... anyway the goal is to wipe everything and either reinstall K8 before I update to K9U or wipe everything and then directly install K9U.

If you don't care about Battery 3 and you are willing to spend some time making sure all traces of K8 are removed (i.e. all Windows Registry entries and all related files and folders) then I would suggest installing K9U.

It's all sorted now. I used the NI Uninstall utility to remove everything and installed from scratch.
