typically when you send midi data, it's an absolute value (0-127). with relative, it tells the synth to increment or decrement a value instead. you see this with rotary encoders (like on the m-audio axiom).

I have used Novation Automap before and as long as the synth can use host automation, it can be done. I haven't used Massive with Automap, but I have used Kontakt and Battery and they both work. I'm sure it will be the same for all other NI synths/samplers.

thanks for the replay. i knew this could work if the host allows, since the host can grab the current value of a parameter and increment or decrement it. the value is a percentage of 1. i was just wondering if massive supports this directly.

So how exactly is this done without Automap? I have Axiom 49 and I want to use the rotary encoders for macro controls. I can only get them to read relative midi as absolute data, meaning that in cc 146 mode the macro controller jumps to 64 and in cc 147 mode it jumps to 0 or 127.
