    Original source: https://github.com/cmdr-editor/cmdr/blob/master/docs/running_on_macos.md

How can I run CMDR in my macOS?

There is three ways to edit your mappings in macOS. A fourth way is unconfirmed, but it has a lot of potential.

    a) Simplest: Xtrememapping
The simplest answer is: buy a copy of XtremmeMapping for macOS.

    b) Azure Cloud
The more complex answer is: get a free trial of a windows virtual machine.

This will run in the "azure" microsoft cloud, and requires giving your credit card to detail to microsoft (they say over and over that no automatic billing will ever happen after the trial period without you changing your )

    installation:

Then connect to your cloud machine using RDP for mac: https://www.techrepublic.com/article/pro-tip-remote-desktop-on-mac-what-you-need-to-know/

    Then:

    • Install CMDR as explained here: CMDR installation instructions
    • Copy your TSI into the virtual machine (simplest is to use eg google drive on the browser)
    c) Most complex: VirtualBox
The most complex answer is: get a personal virtual machine couples with an evaluation copy of any Windows OS.

Step by step instructions are on:

    Then:

    • Install CMDR as explained here: CMDR installation instructions
    • Copy your TSI into the virtual machine (simplest is to use eg google drive on the browser)
    d) Potentially very simple: Winebottler emulation
Winebottler is an emulation software that can run Windows-based programs directly on your Mac.
This is possible thanks to a Windows-compatible subsystem provided by the very well-known linux tool called Wine

    https://winebottler.kronenberg.org/

Potentially this option could be the simoplest, but it cannot be tested until a mac user joins the project.
So please share your experiences here

    bump.
Asked moderators to make this thread sticky, no reply.

People keep finding the old version CMDR thread, which I cannot edit the first post myself.
same story for first page of google hits

The weird workings of Google: reffering to older and obsolete items. The Gogle AI might need to learn a thing or two about the working of time o_O

thanks for the mod that moved this thread to the right sub-forum.
Only thing missing is making it sticky (and remove sticky on some of the obsolete tools listed there)
    thank you

    Thanks for reporting Mutis!

I have turned this thread into a sticky, and closed the old thread for comments. Fingers crossed for Google to do the right thing ;-)

How do people who have been using CMDR for years remember the keyboard shortcuts for Commands, Assignments and Conditions? After 6 months I still forget which number does what.

I think it would make more sense if they were numbered according to the UI, from left to right:

    Dec/Inc Command: Ctrl+1 and 2
    Dec/Inc Value: Ctrl+Shift+1 and 2
    Dec/Inc Assignment: Ctrl+3 and 4
    Dec/Inc Condition1 Key: Ctrl+5 and 6
    Dec/Inc Condition1 Value: Ctrl+Shift+5 and 6
    Dec/Inc Condition2 Key: Ctrl+7 and 8
    Dec/Inc Condition2 Value: Ctrl+Shift+7 and 8

These would stay as they are:

    Dec/Inc Channel: Ctrl+9 and 0
    Dec/Inc Note: Ctrl+Minus and Plus
    Dec/Inc Pad: Ctrl+Shift+Minus and Plus

But I'm not sure what Swap Conditions should be mapped to then. Maybe Ctrl+Shift+Y, since it's between 5/6 and 7/8 on a QWERTY keyboard.

    Thoughts?

Below the picture is the current assigments.
Would love to hear more opinions as well.

    -----
On my oppinion, agreed with the idea to move command/value to the front, and conditions to the middle.

regarding "assigment" this is in the same key as the "channel", right next to the "notes/pad".
Idea is that typically "channel 1 == deck a", "channel 2 == deck b", so this captures this well I think.

(ps: taking this further, I will add a simple report to warn me of weird mappings like "channel 1 = deck D". These are very annoying typos in my experience.)

This is the happiest news!!! I LOVED using cmdr but it seemed to stop working for me about a year ago. So so so happy to have this tool back!
