Freelance SoundLabs has released a few "NKS Preset Browser Packs" over the last few years for the Komplete Kontrol \ Maschine software and hardware and this thread will now centralise support and release announcements to save maintaining a number of different threads.

    Introduction
Komplete Kontrol \ Maschine hardware and software offers users a convenient way to browse, load and start tweaking the Komplete selection of VST instruments and a small handful of 3rd party "NKS Ready" instruments. Unfortunately there are many VSTs that will probably never be NKS compatible or will be a long way off.

Through the use of scripts, patience and time I am working through my personal collection of VST instruments as well as searching out developers and snapping up reasonably priced instruments to process these as NKS ready instruments to allow full preset browsing and tweaking from the hardware.

    Compatibility
    • Komplete Kontrol software v1.9+
    • Maschine Software 2.6+
    • Komplete Kontrol MK1/MK2 compatible
    • Maschine Studio, Micro, MK2/MK3 compatible
    • Supports VST instruments only
    • Works on PC / MAC
    • Supports 32 / 64 bit installations
    • You must own the actual VST and library's, these are only NKS preset files.

    Release Video

    Issues \ Support
We have hundreds of users that are happily using these NKS files. If you are having issues getting it working it is normally an easy fix so just post a simple message here and I (or other users) will help get you up and running. If you notice any performance issues let me know and we will try and work through them. Every system is different but based on number of downloads and number of reported issues, there are none that I know of.

If it does not work for you please check the following

    Windows Users

    Mac Users

By far the most common issue is the fact the instrument plugin is not installed as a VST or the VST.dll file is not loaded by KK/Maschine (either due to an older version of KK being used or the VST.DLL file is not located in the location the software loads plugins from).

    • Do you have Komplete Kontrol 1.9 or later installed?
    • Do you have Maschine 2.6 or later installed?
    • Can you load the instrument manually in: Menu > Plugins
    Den Anhang 50410 betrachten
This is the most common problem and not related to the preset pack. You must see a plugin within the plugin menu before a pack will work. If you do not see the plugin check the following:

      • Is the VST version installed (you may have an AU version installed which is not loaded by KK)
      • Is both KK and the VST 32/64bits (the bit depth of both must match)
      • Is the VST.dll file located in the location KK is looking for plugins (check KK Preferences > Plugins > User)
      • Have you tried a Rescan of the plugins preferences

    • Have you copied the Preset folder to the correct location? The preset files need to be copied to your KK User folder which you can easily see the path in Preferences > Library > User

    • Have you opened KK in Standalone mode and done a "Rescan". In the Preferences > Library > User you will see a Rescan button.
    • Are you looking in the USER library section of the KK software? The presets will be accessible from the user browser of the KK software, not the factory browser

Maschine is pretty much the same method. Check your preferences for the user and plugin library locations.

    Current Plugins
Here are the currently available NKS preset packs

Awesome job! Do you think you'll ever be able to add previews for the presets, or is that not available outside of NI?

Currently, no. There is not even the preview feature available in the user library section, the volume control disappears. Not sure how they create the previews or even if they will allow users to make their own.

I really hope so but will have to see on that.

I have just received a copy of Loom II to process so will be looking at that and I still have some other Air Instruments to do.

I have looked at Vintage Vault which would be a massive challenge but nothings impossible. One of the "issues" is the fact there are drum machines in the collection and I don't have access to program the lightguide information so it would be a waste. I'm working on figuring out light guide so hopefully in the future something will happen. I have written to UVI to see if they would like NKS added so will see what they say.

Possibly Imposcar2 at some stage will be released.

Looks nice. I downloaded the eval copy, but with no guidance on how to install it...I'm unable to test. I've read the "NKS Library Installation - Omnisphere 2 Factory v2.0.pdf" and "Free Version.txt" files. Along with those, there is a "Database Files" and "Preset Files" folder.

But how to install/locate the files?

Also, I tried to post this message on your website (see below), after registering as a user, receiving the verification e-mail, verifying by clicking, and logging on. But the site will not allow me to post, saying it needs to send (another) verification e-mail. But no matter how many times I request the verification e-mail, it never arrives. User error on my part? Bug? Here's what I get:

There are detailed instructions on how to install for both mac and windows. It's been done by hundreds of people. You just need to copy the folders to where they say in the doc. I really can't make it any easier to understand.

The message is saying you need to verify your account. If you do not see an email check your spam folder. Add "admin at freelance Soundlabs dot com" (obviously substitute the "at" and "dot" for the real thing.

The comment system uses "Disqus" which is a comment plugin that requires a separate registration. You can just login to that using any social media account.

The instructions for installation should be pretty straight forward. Where are you getting stuck and what OS are you on?

To update on this, yes, previews have been tested and working for Omnisphere, Korg Legacy, Keyscape, Trilian, Sylenth. I will be updating all of these NKS for existing registered users soon. The rest will follow when I have the time so too will the 3rd party library's I have available for Omnisphere.

Yes this is correct and even though there is no preview volume control in User, previews still function in both Maschine 2.6+ and Komplete Kontrol 1.9.1+

Keep in mind this was quite a task to accomplish but I am working through everything at the moment testing things and making sure they all work. It doubles the download sizes so I need to look into what my host allows in regards to hosting/serving several GB worth of files for download but it will be coming soon.

I will update this forum with the news as well as send out notifications to all registered users but often these go to spam if you have not set "admin AT freelancesoundlabs DOT com" to your safe sender list so feel free to follow my facebook page for updates: https://www.facebook.com/freelancesoundlabs

New V2.1 NKS Releases from Freelance Soundlabs
I am very pleased to announce an update to all NKS libraries from FreelanceSoundlabs will be happening over the next few weeks. Omnisphere 2 factory library is now updated and live with the rest to follow very soon. I will post here when available and all registered users will receive emails about the updates.

This is quite a large update with a lot of new features and work invested but the result is a huge improvement in all areas so here is what is new with v2.1...

    Library Banks
    [IMG]
All instruments will now have the ability to select an individual library or expansion from the software/hardware (if it's needed). This makes it much easier to filter your sound search to a certain library within an instrument. This was rolled out to the first few instruments a month ago but has now been updated and tested over all instruments now I know it works on a larger scale.

    Improved Tagging
    Old / New
    [IMG]
Tags have been significantly cleaned up with many duplicate tags or tags such as "Synth" and "Synths" condensed. Over 150 garbage tags were removed across all libraries and a lot of work has now gone into synchronising tags over all instruments and 3rd party libraries. Some tags that were almost empty were removed or consolidated with other tags. This is most noticeable with many 3rd party libraries for Omnisphere which contained a huge mess of tags that you see above. Some additional work has gone into adding more tag data to some instruments too such as Korg Wavestation which did not have much tag data but has now been processed by hand to add tags to every preset. The Sound Browser helps speed this kind of thing up.

    Updated Library Artwork
    [IMG]
I spent some time updating artwork for all plugins to make it fit in better with the factory style. This is of course optional if you have custom artwork or like the original artwork but if you have the previous v1.x and wish to update the artwork you will need to copy the files in the IMAGES folder and overwrite the existing images.

    Sound Previews
This is the biggest update and the one that required the most amount of work to achieve. Sound previews are now available for ALL presets for v2.1+ NKS libraries. This increases the download size and the installation size so keep this in mind.

You will have to delete your existing NKS library files and install this latest package. Installation is the same, nothing special. You need to keep in mind that any favourites you have marked will be overwritten.

I have tested the sound preview feature extensively and it works extremely well. All sound files generated are batch processed to 6 seconds or less to -3db and file sizes are small (in some cases smaller than the NKS file). There may be a few sound files not processed correctly or some missing. Just let me know if you find anything not quite right and I will get it fixed up.

NOTE: There is no volume control for the previews in User library so you need to switch to Factory library to adjust the preview sound.

    New Download/Purchase System
We now have a completely automated system for digital downloads. You no longer have to register an account, send a payment and twiddle your thumbs waiting for me to wake up and send you your download. You will now find payment buttons with a quick checkout, no account needed, and an instant download delivered to your email.

However, we do recommend creating an account if you want easy access to your downloads or updates at a later date. The system will create an account if you are not logged in using your PayPal email. If you have an account just login before purchase to have it saved to that account.

For existing registered users that have already purchased v1.x libraries you can upgrade to the new library for just $2.99 by logging in, going to Downloads > My Downloads then visiting the Donor Downloads section of your account. You will now see an "Upgrade" button that will add the update to your account. If you are not interested in any of the new features then you don't need to upgrade.

    Installation Instructions
I have created a quick video for installing the NKS library's for new users. Detailed instructions are also included with the downloads

We have some updates, new products and more in the pipeline...

    NKS Updates: V2.1.1

NKS packages are now running at v2.1.1 as of December 11 2017. If you want to know the versions you are running, check the downloaded ZIP file for the readme which shows the version.

ALL NKS libraries have been updated with new tagging, some new artwork and database files and new sound preview files. It is RECOMMENDED to download and replace your existing libraries but it's up to you.

All existing v2.1 users can access the latest updates for free. Just Login and go to My Downloads and you should see your previous downloads listed there. If something is not available, please let me know and I will look into it

Cleaner Tagging & More of it
It's been an ongoing process to clean up tagging over multiple libraries to keep the browser clutter free and working smoothly. I have spent some time with the help of the new sound preview system to assign more tagging to instruments such as Korg Legacy Cell and Wavestation so more files are now tagged with more information. This is an ongoing process and individual libraries will be updated over time.

Just download and replace the files you have. Your favourites should still remain in tact as no paths have been changed.

Artwork for Loaded Plugin (Maschine / Komplete MK2 Screens)
New database files now display both artwork and colouring on the LCD screens when you load a plug-in. Previously when you loaded a plug-in you would just see white text and a black background. You will now see the splash image and a coloured background when loading a plugin and exiting the browser.

    New Sound Previews
New sound previews have been generated for many instruments:

Bass sounds now play an E1 note not C1 which sounds much better. Some cases it is an E2 due to E1 being a little too low but it should be better in instruments such as Trillian.

Acoustic guitars now play a "strum" sound in most instruments

Drum Kits play 4 hits of the kit so you can hear (hopefully) a few different drums in a kit instead of just a single hit

Some missing sounds have been fixed but there may be some missing still (such as drum or percussion kits that only occupy a few keys in the range

    Loom II Extra Library: Tapestry
Loom users can now download the new NKS library and will receive a bonus 68 presets from forum member Kymeia who sent through a library which has been included with the Loom II release with his permission.

    New NKS Releases
3 new NKS libraries are now available:

Synthmaster One was extremely difficult to script and due to the methods used may show some naming issues with some presets. Please let me know if you notice any major issues as I haven't had a huge amount of time to go through every preset file.

Tagging is only basic as I am in the process of developing a script to read the tagging info and convert this to NKS tagging which will be updated when completed and available as a free download in the future but for now if you are SynthMaster One owner you can get this one and give your feedback. Includes sound previews for the browser and library artwork.

I have a few more that will be available soon:
    - Air Music Structure
    - Air Music Strike
    - Air Music theRiser
    - SynthMaster 2
    - Serum
    - Avenger
    - More Xpand Libraries
    - Update to Lethal for latest library

I plan to get Air Music instruments completely out of the way as I have been delaying on these for some time (because don't really use these a great deal). One thing to note is Strike really needs lightguide for the key switches but that needs to be built into the VST itself so it's just able to be browsed and controlled.

Post any issues/questions you may have.

Do the sound previews still work after the Maschine 2.7 update? I've just upgraded and I'm not hearing anything when browsing the Omnisphere patches. I did, however, upgrade to the 2.1.1 NKS release at the same time so there's a chance I've broken something. :)

The factory content sound previews seem to be working fine...
