    Omnisphere Preset Browser for Komplete Kontrol \ Maschine
    [IMG]

    The Omnisphere 2 Patch Browser is a preset pack for browsing Omnisphere 2 presets from the Komplete Kontrol software and keyboard. This package contains over 7000 factory presets that will add full preset browing for Omnisphere 2 from the keyboard!

    All presets have been "wrapped" into .nkfs files which contains the Omnisphere preset information, tagging information and mapped controls. Additionally, a Komplete Kontrol database file and plugin artwork is also included to create entries in your User Library. Preset files can be browsed by sound type and donors can additionally browse files using sub-category, mood, genre, osc type and Omnisphere library.

    Compatibility

    • Komplete Kontrol software v1.5+
    • Also works in Maschine Software (but not supported)
    • Supports VST Only (no AU Support)
    • Works on PC/MAC
    • Supports 32/64 Bit
    • Works in Omnisphere 2 Only
    Versions

    There are 2 versions of the preset packs available. The Free version has only the main preset sound type categories while the donor version has all the additional tagging information available:

    Donor Version
    The Donor Version is for users that donate for the preset pack. It includes all the extensive tagging from Omnisphere and also searching by library to save searching through thousands of untagged presets and also comes with free updates.
    To get the Donor version you need to register on my website and use the Donation button for the preset pack (found in the readme or on the product page) to send a donation of $10 or more.
    Once we receive your donation we will add the download to your account. Please Note this is a manual process so may take a little for us to wake up and see it but feel free to contact us should you not receive an email.

    Though I'm not a user of this stuff, you must be congratulated on this. And, I hope, thanked.

    Thanks.

    I am hoping what I achieve is for similar minded people such as myself to realise the potential and start building the support by creating preset packs just as we all did for Ableton and Push. Personally I love the challenge but being a solid DAW producer since the days of Commodore and Amiega where you had to program your music in basic language (i'm "only" 34) the dream of being able to one day just locate a sound WHEN you want it, not by chance or in many of my cases, not at all and playing GTA instead.

    I test ran the Akai Advance and though I had a few issues which ultimately saw me take it back I was impressed with the software and the ability to dial in sounds regardless of the VST they live in. KK offers such great abilities here... but only for Komplete stuff which is only about 30% of what I use. Seems a waste really and I highly doubt Spectrasonics to play with NI and update NKS into Omnisphere,

    I will post up the Arp library soon so users can download and test how it functions and see if it is something they would like to see more of. My calculations estimate it will take my scripts about 2 weeks of solid running to completely rip all presets and work through the tag categories to 4 tags deep (Category > Type > Mood > Genre). Of course there is some manual intervention required every now and then but much of it I can VNC in and continue when i'm not home and leave it running overnight (which is good because i'm away often)

    For those that are keen to know more about the process to possibly get started yourself see my info page:

    I may post a video if there is interest showing how it works and how anyone can do it with some free tools (AutoIT for Windows)

    AutoIT is very powerful...wish I would have learnt it when I first saw it in action several years back. And I've always been kind of surprised more companies (and individuals) don't use it...

    It's troubling that you are having to do all of this work. It seems that NI spent all of their money on marketing and left nothing for the actual support of the standard. When you release a standard into the market, you have about 12-24 months to make sure it spreads. Making things difficult for other developers and expecting users to fix and do all of this work is a good way to ensure the death of this format.

    I hope they get this straight immediately. For about $70-100k they could probably create over 100 NKS libraries and give this format some room to expand...instead, it seems their strategy so far is to sit and wait. Even worse, on other forums, it seems that they are not even giving other VST developers easy access to the tools to do this!

    Could anyone who works with MAC please let me know what the equivalent paths are on MAC so I can start putting some documentation together for this Omnisphere browser pack:

    NI Resources \ Database Files
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources

    NI User Content (default)
    C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Native Instruments\User Content.

    The Latter is easily found within the KK software so no big deal there but the first location is where the database and image files are held for the library's and i'd like to put some simple instructions together for both PC/MAC users to install the browser pack once completed.

    You need to make sure you run the standalone version of Komplete Kontrol after installing. The VST version does not auto scan the user folder

    Yes I know, but Komplete Kontrol Standalone did not recognize the new presets, I had to rescan manually....

    First of all thank you, you did awesome job!

    if I may say there are two "errors"
    1) in the categories.json file "Synthesizers", instead of "Synthesizers" for me it was still in no category until I remove the comma
    2) all presets saturate the master (share level) + 1.52db

    ...and 3 sorry for my bad english

    Point 2 disturbs me as well.

    Is this + Gain level as well in the donor version?

    I'm willing to pay for the extra mile but not for sounds which are clipping out of the box...

    Not sure how much this would be a problem, you can always set the volume level in KK itself lower and that is independent of the plugin loaded so doesn't change when you change presets. So it still shouldn't clip when being recorded into a DAW.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Issue 1: I had tested a few different ways of displaying categories and it seemed to work when I left the comma in (is on mine) so I left it. I did have an additional category called "Power Synth" but removed that. Will fix that one up no problem.

    Issue 2: I noticed this once I had completed the process and I know exactly why...

    When I did the first tests and created my template file the first control I mapped was Master and I tweaked that to see if it worked ok and of course it was set too high at default. The Master Volume isn't reset with a preset and remains throughout ALL presets. When I tested a number of patches as I was creating them they were all too soft to clip but later I found some of the arps and especially EDM did cause a clip.

    The good news is this is an easy fix within the actual .nkfs file so I just have to change the "gain" attribute to a lower value which is the same value in all presets so I can batch run that easy. Anyone who has donated and has installed the presets will have an update in their account and I will send out a notice and the free version will also be fixed too (including the updated fix in the json file)

    So in short, both issues are fixable and hopefully I will have that done tonight and replaced. Thanks for the feedback.

    EDIT: This issue is now resolved. Master volume was at +2dB for all presets and has been reset back to 0dB in all presets. Will have these uploaded and available (v1.2) today.

    Updated v1.2
    - Fixed issue with Omnisphere main volume set to +2db causing clipping. Reset all presets to 0db (default)
    - Fixed issue in database files that caused issues with creating the categories on some users systems
    - Fixed mistake in instructions for the installation path of the database files

    I want to add Tyrell N6 to the Synthesizers category in mac but no luck so far, using your method I only manage to change the plugin images using your method, I guess something is not setup correctly in the dist_database folder, I tried with and without the comma after "Synthesizers" in the categories.json file but still doesn't work.

    Any ideas?

    EDIT: Tried version 1.2, background color does change but unfortunately categories still the same

    The categories.json file should look like this:

    {
    "Vendor" : "Spectrasonics",
    "Product" : "Omnisphere",
    "CategoryDB" :
    [
    {
    "FileType" : "Instruments",
    "Categories" :
    [
    "Synthesizers"
    ]
    }
    ]
    }

    I think there may be a comma missing after instruments ?
