Hey, Mick. She's a beauty. I'm curious, though... Were faders truly too much to ask for on such a machine? Are they too expensive or just impossible?

Aside from all the new integrations and controls, is the keybed the same as that of the original S88?

Not the same, apparently. Still have to try it first-hand. It's going to be tough beating Roland RD-2000 (I don't expect that to happen, honestly).

I can't, because I don't know the specifics. It's still a Fatar action obviously, but it'd be safe to say that it's not TP/100LR that was in mk1 (which I absolutely don't like personally).

    Those figures can't be correct.

Assuming that the metric figures are correct, the conversion would be = 54.7" X 11.7" X 4.5"

Which is the same width, less depth & height as the MK1. Too bad for me. I was hoping it would come in less than 53.75" wide to fit my desk. Looks cool though.

I doubt it since it wasn't in this round of announcements, but maybe they'll release a 73 key version. Even so, it would likely be semi-weighted keys.

I would love a semi-weighted 73 key keyboard - larger scale boards always tend to be piano weighted which my disabled hand can't handle, I prefer synth action but like a large octave range and good aftertouch.

I've always hated non-weighted keys, but I'm getting used to it having one the last several months. I'm down to being slightly bothered when playing piano/keyboard VIs.

But I also need more keys. If they did drop a 73-key semi-weighted version, I'd consider it depending on the value of my current.

Interesting. Glad to hear the key action of the new S88 MKII is different than the original. I have the original, and I HATE the action. It's super clunky and cheap feeling. Sure wish NI would use a different company other than FATAR. It would be fantastic if the S88 MKII had a keyboard as good as a Yamaha Motif or Korg Kronos. The keyboard supplied with the original S88 was a serious drawback.

Fatar has some great actions in their arsenal. It's just that TP/100LR that was used in S88mk1 is not their best.

    could be TP/40 or 400?

Yeah those would be my next guesses. If it's TP/40GH with triple sensors, that'd be a win (same excellent keybed as in Studiologic SL Grand).

Yeah, while distributing Studilogic in France, I once visited the factory, a mix of modern and old , I still have some nice videos I think...
