The link you guys are looking at is old and probably should be taken down.
I'm not saying they won't have a hardware-only version for the Mk2 because I wouldn't know, but that's not what that linked item is for. Notice that it's out of stock. That's because they sold out of them a long time ago and stopped making them.
The price definitely is high, but it's not intended as a crossgrade. They had these for people who broke or lost their controllers.

The thing is, that link I provided came from the new Mk2 page (which you can see in my other post).

If it is may as well keep it and have a spare controller, as long as there is a crossgrade that's what i would do.

I'd be down for having an old controller and a new one for live performance two would be nice. I just don't want to have to pay the full price again to get the new hardware. I preordered my first Maschine so I've had it a long time now, hopefully we can just get the hardware for new one since the software is the same.

I meant option to buy the controller. I've had mine since 09, warranty runs out soon. I'm waiting for that so i try and fix the pads but i'd have less qualms about doing it sooner if i had another controller.

That would be nice. Actually I would rather the displays just be off in a sleep mode until either I press one of the buttons, or the software wakes the unit, rather than having a true "switch".

I wonder if it is possible to:

    - buy the full Maschine MKII
    - take the Maschine MKII out of the box
    - put my Maschine MKI into the box
    - sell it on eBay advertised as Maschine MKI, with the new serial, plus Komplete Elements, Massive (as I've already got a registered version of Maschine and a registered version of K8U and don't particularly want to be deregistering and registering stuff)

...and if I did this, how much it'd fetch, and what I'd be effectively be paying for the upgrade?

I dont see any reason why not. i suppose the real problem is if NI allow a cheap hardware only upgrade option then there will be a load of people selling maschine controllers (although i personally would keep mine if it could be used in tandem in standalone mode). this would potentially drive the value right down and give cheap access for pirate software users to get their hands on it.

Thats an interesting thought that hadn't crossed my mind yet. Id assume this would be fine as it is the software that you are registering and not the controller. Not a half bad idea, but still i dont know if you would get more than $400 out of it given that any guitar center you can cop an MK1 for $399, and then just upgrade.

If you do the math youll end up paying about a $300 difference for the new light assign features as well as the sexy jog wheel lol.

I really just hope they will offer us mk2 controller only at a discounted price so i can flip the old one, or just keep it for a back up controller since it will still function with version 1.8.

Indeed not a offer to upgrade IMO.

However - the buyer would gain Maschine + Massive - not included in Maschine MK1.

Thankfully - only difference in the lights and the scroll wheel.

But - I would not be surprised if Traktor 3.0 comes out - and Maschine 2.0

that the hardware version of 1.0 could become an even bigger disadvantage.

I'm really pleased that they upgrade the controller in this reasoned way.

The colored coding of the Pads ! A great improvment for working with various kits with non standard sounds. It will be much quicker to get orientated.

The backlit screen is going to be way easier to read.

Transport control of a host Daw badly needed improvement.

More responsive pads. Always a good thing.

The improved reslolution of the main data wheel is good. Sad to lose the Tempo and Swing knobs though...

When it's been out for awhile I just may get it and have the option to run both versions of the Hardware. One as Midi controller the other as Maschine Software control.

    Good improvment. I'm in...
    ---

All users get the Massive with the 1.8 upgrade..

If and when a long time user of Maschine needs a replacement controller then if it's priced somewhere near what the original replacement controller cost, it's going to be nice to get an improved controller instead of the old version..
