Request - Prophet VS Ensemble

Back in the early eighties I remember getting to try out an awesome synth by Sequential Circuits. It was the Prophet VS. I am curious if anyone has attempted to create an ensemble that would emulate the Prophet VS. Or, are there any current ensemlbes that are similar to it?

I'm pretty sure there is but if you're looking for the best possible emulation go take a look at NI's

From what I remember the prophet VS (vector synth) is a very different beast to the pro53, for starters I think it was a wavetable synth.

 

it was the first vector synth. I spent a few years using one - it's very cool. it was the predecessor to Korg's Wavestation. As I understand it - the team that developed the VS were pretty much the same people who later went on and developed the wavestation for korg. I'm not sure if the Pro-53 emulates much of what the VS did or not. I have yet to explore the Pro-53 - having fun with the rest of Komplete though ;-)

do a search of the user library for vector synth, or wavestation clones - you'll find something similar. the vs had pcm waves in it which could be vectored and so forth. you'd need to get your hands on some samples of these waves to get closer to it's sound.

 

I worked up a version of my VS before I dumped it.

It wasn't anything like a 'model', but it did the vector thing, had the waveset sampled from my VS, had the filter and dual chorus.

You're right. I misread your post, thought you were talking about the Prophet 5.

 

I once started on an emulation of the VS in R3, but got stuck with the looped envelopes (emulating the different loop modes was pretty hard, but the real problem was with retriggered envelopes always starting from zero instead of current level if I remember right).

Anyway, if you don't mind using a non-Reaktor emulation and can afford to have some patience, there's a brand new Prophet VS vst in the makings by Antti, one of the Smartelectronix members (http://www.smartelectronix.com); I've seen the beta, but it's not made public yet. Should be released in the coming weeks though.
