I make a lot of sets ahead of time and specifically set load in and load out markers, plus other markers to remind me what I'm trying to do with the track (example... mark to remind me when to set the loop recorder... mark to remind me to jump the other track to another cue point while catching a break ect....). This is only one example where I have maybe a predermined preparation list of songs I know I'm going to play in order.

Another example: say I have two songs I know that mash really well, but I like to cut them up a little... I need cue points set ahead to do some of the more advanced things... however this is confusing as hell when I load the track to just mix normally or if it's already jammed in one of my prep lists.

This results in a lot of my tracks having tons of cue points that are really only suitable for playing in a predetermined order... something I only do when I'm making sets to upload to sound cloud. If I then want to use a track with another in a different set I have to wipe the cue points to make new ones or else I get confused...

As of now I just export the preparation list and check off save tracks to destination to preserve my individual sets, but it would be interesting if you could set up some kind of auxiller cue system that lets you select different sets of cues depending on context or through a drop down menu. Then if I want to see those cue points on the track I have to reload the playlist and import... results in me having like 20 copies of the same ****ing songs with multiple versions that all have different cue points.

    How can this be avoided?

    Multi-layered cues!

Simply have all cues contained within a heiarchy... you can load cue set 1 (of 8 cues) OR cue set 2 (of 8 cues) ect ect....

You could have a set of cues for pulling samples... loops.. or scratching a track, and then have a set of cues for using the song as an intro mix... a special set of cues for a mashup you know works well with another song (then maybe have the possibility of linking it with the other songs corresponding layer of cues).

I know a lot of people are going to say this is sort of cheating but **** that... in the age of controllerism I don't want to be using traktor like a set of 3 cdjs and I'm not able to spend 10 hours a day practicing/memorizing mashups on the fly like a professional dj. I don't get paid enough for that ****... I need markers

Anyways, what do you guys think? Waste of time.... or actually useful?
