    Hi,

This may be a stupid question but...

I have Komplete 8 Ultimate. Last year I got the e-mail for Retro Machines, downloaded ISO, installed. Done. Went on to work on a bunch of other stuff and never touched it... But K5 and other libs in Ultimate work fine (Berlin, West Africa, etc.)

Today I fire it up and it's in Demo mode. I press a button to 'Activate In Service Center' and there's nothing to activate... ie. it's not in the list of products.

    Now what?

    1. Make sure you're on the latest version of Kontakt -- update if not.

    2. Remove the library from your Kontakt libraries tab. (Use the little tools button to do that.)

    3. Re-add it to the Kontakt browser using Libraries > Add Library. This should retrigger Service Center to realize it's there for authorizing.

    Thanks. Didn't help.

    Using Kontakt 5.02...

I removed the lib as you suggested, then re-added it. Shows up in Demo mode. When I click 'Activate' it -briefly- showed me an old-school Service Center authorization screen where it asked for a serial #---which I don't get because I don't think Retro Machines -came- with a serial #.

I exited Kontakt and fired up Service Center separately and there's no mention of R/M.

I see I have Kontakt 8 Ultimate 'activated' and Kontakt 5 'full'.

All my other libs (Abbey Road, Session Strings Pro, etc.) work fine.

Tried e-mailing NI Support... no reply.

    Now what?

I'm stumped. My best advice is to call NI registration support on the phone. They've always been very helpful with me to sort through these issues.

I checked my email that contained the download for Retro Machines and it does not show a serial number. However, in the Service Center it does have one. I do not recall whether or not I manually entered one at some stage but one is part of the activation. Do you still have your email with your link? I would delete the installation and download/reinstall RM from scratch.

Freaky. I did -exactly- as you said and it did not help. I then called NI Los Angeles and the guy sent me an e=mail link that seems -identical- and despite my skepticism, I downloaded, and re-installed and it worked.

I guess it depends on whether yer an optimist or a pessimist.

Optimist: The NI people answered the phone right away and did have an answer that worked.

Pessimist: The NI people on the phone were -very- 'valley slacker'. Acted like they didn't give a hoot and were reading from a script. Plus... Why the heck did this happen in the first place? Not a clue. Also: Never received a reply to my e-mail to NI support.

All's well that ends well I guess. Thanks for the replies!
