You can see the NEW CONTROLLER in action here: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuwrc31S90s"]YouTube - DJmag Tech Awards 2009 - DJ Software[/ame]. I just discovered this video yesterday so... for me it's new. Skip video to 2:15

Yep... A new video to me too, this one. Granted, we see the unit somewhat better than in the "Richie live"-video... Somehow I'm not too impressed with it (at least at this point yet).

Unfortunatelly there appears to be nothing fundamentally distinctive in it to make me pick it over a "brand x"-controller. Unless of course it will be cheap like milk - or sturdy like a steal mill - or both :)

looks very interesting to me, because it looks pretty much like what i've been looking for. it seem to have one button for each of the 8 cuepoints / loops of each deck and rotarys for effects (i don't need more, because my setup is time code controlled) and all this in a nice format! (and of course it is tailored to traktor) if it does not have the bugs that the 1d has, it's going to be mine :D

I hope it's just sitting on something there and isn't quite so brick-like.

Hmmm... I'm starting to regret my second Xone1D purchase :S

Really liking the visual LED feedback you get.

The big question for me is... will two of these work plugged into a USB hub on a MBP? Since there are no midi ports on them.

Well, the X1 looks pretty nice. I would say it's 99% certain that I will get one. That said, I have a couple of minor issues:

    1) I'm not sure about going with knobs instead of rotary encoders for the effects. One thing I love about my BCR 2000 is that it's all encoders. I'm sure it keeps the cost down, but this seems to present a pretty good potential for being annoying.

    2) I don't love the multi-function buttons. Now, personally I've always used my keyboard for most of my transport controls (personal preference) so it might be less onerous for me, but I've NEVER liked the idea of having more than one function on ANY control that I use often OR that is related to playback critical functions. Obviously, there's a limit to the number of buttons you can put on a controller, but it seems like maybe the X1 is just a little short on the discrete controls.

Other than that though, it looks like it could be a winner. I really like the fact that it's designed to be a compliment to an external mixer instead of a replacement (like so many controllers). I think that's the sweet spot for this unit.

Edit: OK, so the price is $229. But it's not available until FEBRUARY? Hmm. Oh, and FIFTY BUCKS for a bag. WTF. Well, I guess I've got some time to think about this....

Ok, first of let me say that I absolutly love this controller, the videos on the N.I. Page explain and show the functions etc. really well, and I can't wait to get my hands on one of these to use alongside my TimecodeSetup...but 3 things do piss me off:

1.)Why did N.I. not include buttons and knobs for the fourth effect slot? Were they really done developing as well as massproducing this unit before the 1.2. Update? Cause if they weren't (which i assume, at least the mass production part!) including one more button/knob-row couldn't have been such a big deal!

2.)Buttons and knobs for the standard-filters as well as the keylock/keychange are missing! That def sucks!

3.) The price 199€ is a bit much in my opinion 149 e would have been more like it, but oh well I'd pay the 199 €, cuz I really want that controller...what I really think is messed up though, is N.I. asking for 39 € for just the case!
Come on N.I. that is a serious rip off...it's just a case...a cloth-case, no metall or expensive applications/functions...An Eastpak or Jansport bagpack is cheaper...the magma headphone bag as well as the magma headshell case are both cheaper!
I think for 199 € the case should def have been included for free!

But as I said other then that, a great controller which I can't wait to use.... ; )

Then feel free to re-programm it. It's fully customizable ;)

They also didn't include controls for decks C and D. If you want to use more than two effect slots or/and decks (what i actually don't), you can get another X1 to control those. what would you use the 4 effect controls on the second x1 for, if you bought it for using 4 decks?

This ist true, but you can assign another button/knob to this functions. and thanks to the modifiers you have in traktor, you don't even have to miss one of the other features!

i definitly will get one of these nice jewels :D

Well, the website says "TRAKTOR KONTROL X1 will be available February 1st, 2010.", so I'm guessing that it might be available around February 1st next year... Just a hunch, though :)

I've got an idea NI. You know how you've made the product, and made people aware you've made the product? We'll the next stage is to sell it to the shops. So give it to the nice man and he will buy it off you and sell it in his shop. And when he has nearly run out he will buy some more from you and this way you will get money. It's the same thing you did with Komplete 6 just recently...remember? Just give it to the man in the shop and it'll all be ok, he'll do the rest.

Well, the X1 looks like a really nice piece of equipment, I guess.
But I don't see the pro's compared to the 1D. I configured my 1D in a way that the functions are similar, so that isn't an argument to buy this one.

And for the people who are going to complain that this X1 isn't configured for all four FX-units: what do you think NI else would do? People see DJ's like Hawtin play with two of these on stage and want the same. NI would cut themselves when they would make every function work on just one controller, when they could make some extra money on selling another controller to complete the whole package.
No offence to NI by the way, but they have to make money too, right? :)

Guess this is a great strategy and a nice product too, so I hope a lot of people have the benefits of it. But I'm sticking to my 1D (or maybe 2 of them in the future). ;)

for me the main argument for buying an X1 is that it offers me the layout (and visual feedback) that the 1D can't. and in addition, the 1D is very buggy. if the X1 isn't (and that's what i expect of NI), thats also a huge argument.
