    Hello Eveyone,

This dilema has me feeling like a mouse who can't find its way out of the maze.

I'm using K2 as a standalone and triggering the K2 samples with the Axon 100 MKII guitar midi controller. Then recording to the Korg Trinity. (I'm much quicker on the Trinity then cakewalk, even though it has it's editing limitations).
But this is what I'm trying to do: Using the guitar to record midi info, the keyswitching is the problem.
    1. Is there a way to maybe set up a bank and somehow trigger the sounds and articulations that way?
And ifso, how would I change the bank patches on K2 with a remote or footswitch? The interface I'm using is an M-Audio 410 firewire.
K2 is reading the Axon fine including the expression pedals,
(it has 2 that you can be set to controller #'s)
I thought about transposing the low E string down on the guitar to trigger keyswitches but the problem there is on a lot of instrument ranges I have to transpose them down an 8va to fit on the guitar neck so that would be a conflict.
My Trinity is only 66 keys and I don't want to buy an 88 key since I'm not a keyboard player. Maybe an inexpensive small controller? I don't know... But then, if I'm playing guitar I would still have to trigger keyswitches on a keyboard. I have a foot pedal midi controller I use for my live stuff, I don't know how that would all hook up though, or even if it would work. I would like to change the articulations while I'm playing, at least some of the time.

Well, any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks alot,

    Tony

    Hi,
I don't understand what do you mean with articulations...
For changing patch you can use your trinity, I think it can work so you don't have to buy remote.
Please give us more detail how your system is connected.
    Thank you

    Hi Andrea,

By articulations I mean the instruments that have keyswitching i.e.. Strings Pizzacto, tremelo, staccato etc.

My system is simply this. First Guitar into Axon midi converter. Axon Midi out into M-audio interface midi in. Midi out of M-audio into Trinity for recording midi on trinity.

    Thanks for replying,

    Tony

I've been using the Behringer FCB1010 for keyswitching and footpedal-controlling EWQLSO (and especially for the Garritan Stradivari). The manual for programming the thing sucks, but they have step-by-step instructions on their site under support so that it finally makes sense. $139 USD new over eBay and elsewhere.

Wow, I have the exact same footcontroller, I will go to the site. Do you use guitar for programming? I'm guessing you connect the Behringer FCB1010 to the back of the Converter.

    Thanks alot,

    Tony

Keyboard player here...I just take the MIDI out from the FCB1010 and insert it in a MIDI 8X8 patchbay (MOTU)...and it's pretty simple in the end...each footswitch just sends a note-on/note-off of C0, C#0, D0, etc. (although, it is capable of sending more MIDI info than that) and the extra expression pedals really come in handy...if only I could program aftertouch through them for Stradivari, it would be a perfect device.

Oh you send note on & off for keyswitching, that's perfect. I don't know how to do that but it would be better than using Banks because Banks can't be put in Multis.
Can I ask you, with the FS1010 how do you send note
C-0,C1, etc. Where in the FS do you program the info to transmit Note changes to the keyswitching patches in K2?

    Thanks again,

    Tony

    Hey Tony...do this:

    1. Choose your BANK by pressing UP/DOWN until your see “00”
(Bank 0 or any other Bank # you want, if it’s already programmed)

    2. Press “1” to select Preset 1

    3. Press “DOWN” for 3 sec. to enter PRESET CHANGE MODE (they call it Preset Configuration)

(The GREEN SWITCH SELECT light should be blinking)

    4. Press “UP” to continue (the switches shouldn’t matter for this example, only if you’re contolling an amp, etc.)

    5. If the “10/0” RED LIGHT isn’t on contantly, press “10/0” for 3 sec. to select it (the RED LIGHT on “10/0” should be ON CONSTANTLY now)

    6. Press “10/0” once to select select it for programming
(the RED LIGHT on “10/0” should be flashing now)

    7. Press “UP” to confirm

    8. Enter the note number you want (C0=24, C#0=25, etc) with the foot switches (hit switch “2” then “4”...see page 10 of the manual for MIDI Key/Note Numbers)

    9. Press “UP” to confirm/accept

    10. Press “DOWN” for 3 sec. to confirm/accept the change.

Go back now, and press Switch 2 to select Preset 2 and continue with step 3 to enter note 25…etc…etc…

And here’s the link for the FCB1010 tutorials that cover almost everything the thing can do…

    http://behringer-en.custhelp.com/cg...bmcmcF9wcm9kX2x2bDE9fmFueX4mcF9wYWdlPTE*&p_li

I think I got these instructions from the V-AMP example, at least that's what I recall...there's an index of DOCs there too, but I don't remember it being very helpful.

Hope this works out for you...once you've got the idea, the programming chart that comes with the FCB1010 makes more sense...

    Oliver,

I'm so grateful for you taking your time to explain this procedure to me. This keyswitching on guitar is something I have been struggling with and finally there is light at the end of the tunnel thanks to you.

    Best Always,

    Tony
