I think the current RK2 is prefect.
However, it would be cool if NI just added another switchable pedal to augment the current one.

I would HATE to have to use a pedal board with any more switches than what it has already.

    I love the RK2 in it's perfection.

(Minus no ability to see tuning on the digital screen. It would be very easy to implement I imagine?)

i'd agree that a few more buttons would be a good thing. i love using loop machine, but it's annoying that it takes over the button assignments for switching in effects on the current patch. i only ever assign play and undo so 2 more buttons that aren't used in any of the default patches installed with the app would be a good thing.

and that second expression pedal is also a must.

acknowledging the choices NI made with the new RK3, I'd say 13-pin synth access is a distant future goal, but I'd be willing to wait.
I admit, the concept of the unit should stay small, but I wish they would make different models for different people and not necessarily one unit per upgrade (like line6's footcontroller selection). I still need my muplitple exp pedals with toe switches, and I didn't want to have to settle for the roland fc-300 but if that is the case I can live with that. I still wish it had assignable knobs and a viewable tuner, but again I can be patient.

I love the black finish, I will definitely need those extra 2 switches, and I'm anxious to hear this new sound card's capabilities.

I can't wait to hear it either...

13 pin needs to grow, and you can all help support it. Not just at NI, but everywhere, play 13 pin, record with it, teach with it. I think that 13 pin is the most important thing to happen to the guitar since Les Paul...

"Only USB (or Firewire) can bring power to the RigKontrol device however, so there's a tradeoff."

The technology is called POE (power over Ethernet) and is a standard 802.3af. Devices like IP phones, access points, cameras, etc. are powered this way.

Yeah, I found out too - quickly after my post, but I wasn't able to edit it then. Nevertheless, RK3 is here, with USB. From the pictures it appers to have a sort of security handle added near the USB port, probably meaning the cable can be tastended somehow and less prone to fall out. That's progress.
