I have Guitar Rig 3 and was thinking about getting a Rig Kontrol pedal.
I s there much difference between the RK2 and RK3 pedals. I have the chance to pick up the RK2 used for pretty cheap but was wondering if I'd be better off spending more and going for the 3 if it works better and has better features.

I personally stuck with the RK2. I don't need the two extra buttons, and I won't ever be going to 192k.

It's got a better D/A conversion section, 2 more buttons, it's black and it's black.

Given the option between the two, I'd go for the RK3 now.

does RK3 have meter-leds for tuning guitar? that was said in some other thread, but i can't see it in the official "new features"

Nope. RK3 have more LEDs, but they're just x-mas lights for the input level. Just in time for the season?
RK3 have a new secure strap for the USB lead, preventing it from falling out accidentally.
The two inputs for external analog devices will react to swithches in addition to expression pedals; RK2 was pedal only.
As for the colour you can spray paint it perhaps? Black can be cool but tends to attrackt dirt. RK4 should be see through acrylic with some lights inside; nothing beats technology porno.

The audio codec is new, and much better in RK3. That's why i opted for it in my studio.

I'm still interested in upgrading my RK2 to an RK3 - I really need to know about the performance at 44.1khz on PC before I take the plunge though. If it's not better than the RK2 I probably wouldn't bother.

The manual that came with my RK2 states, "5.8 Connecting to an external pedal or footswitch Additional pedals (expression, volume, etc.) can also be used with GUITAR RIG 2 by connecting them up to the extra pedal inputs on the far right of the Rig Kontrol 2’s back panel. Calibration via software is needed. Use the ‘Resets Pedal Calibration’ function in the global preference section of GUITAR RIG 2 for this."

I never had any problems just using a simple switch with RK2/GR2...
