My blind friend is using a Roland Fantom X8 as a MIDI controller, and it works as it should when he's using B4, letting him scroll through the sounds. On Akoustik Piano, however, the Fantom will not let him scroll through the sounds in the usual manner.

Does anyone have any advice I can pass on to him?

Well there are only four sounds in Akoustik Piano or four pianos. They are loaded at start up or you can change them from the screen. I do not believe there is a way to change pianos through MIDI. If you had Kontakt, you could preload all 4 pianos and switch between them with MIDI. You could even program different effects and EQ's as well creating many presets.

In my case, I only use one piano sound.

Geoelectro is correct. Akoustik Piano doesn't respond to program changes the way the B4 does. I'm not sure there is a way to remotely control AP in a way that would be helpful to a blind person.
