While there's a work around to utilize Battery to perform this function, it's one that's often forgotten.
However, there are times when one is making a beat or song, and extra Pads are being taken up in a group because you want to have a sound that's more like a live perform where every note isn't exactly the same. There are also instances where extra pads are being taken up in a group because you're layering a sound like a synth, or a drum kit.

The Round Robin idea, would allow One Pad to cycle through up to 4 different sounds or samples.
This way, you can set up to 4 different (but similar) sounding Kick drum variations but in the Sequencer it only takes up one pad.
Then you can record your pattern as normal with one pad, versus having to sacrifice 3 other tracks in your group.
This could also be applied to any sampled instrument sound, where the instruments can take one musical phrase and split it across up to 4 different sounds making the song more interesting and exciting.

A toggle switch could be added to change it from Round Robin to Layered.
In Layered, the pad will play up to 4 sounds all at once.

No more sacrificing tracks in a group to get that perfect Layered Saw or Layered Bass sound.

This will also simply performance with the Maschine as it will reducing the number of tracks needed in a group will also minimize the number of total groups needed.
If the song has a beat that consists of Kick, Hihat, Snare, Hihat - One pad can be utilized, and the other 15 tracks can be utilized for various instruments and effects.

The other thing I would suggest is adding Automation of the Round Robin/Layered Pads for Mute, Pan, and Level.
One of the main benefits of a Layered Instrument is the ability to control the precise amounts each contributes to the sound.
But one of the biggest habits in music is the progressive adding or subtracting of the sounds to build up or be reduced over the period of the song.
Adding the Automation will give users control over the levels of the Round Robin/Layered sounds over the course of the song.
