Routing automation that was created in Machine into Ableton

    Hi all

For the first time I'm trying to route my MIDI notes from a track I completely finished in Maschine (2.11) into Ableton Live 10. My goal is to get all of my project routed into Ableton so that I can lay vocals on top of what I have and mix accordingly. It's taken me hours to figure it out but I think I'm finally getting near, I have all my notes from various patterns and scenes laid out in session view. However I have 2 issues:

    1. It seems that my modulation didn't transfer over into Ableton. I automated the volume of each sounds in Maschine (via Channel->Sound->Output->Level), so that each scene has its own specific volume. However, in Ableton it seems to be playing all at one volume. Why isn't my automation coming into effect in Ableton?

    2. There are certain Sounds that I routed that start playing the wrong Sound when certain notes are played. For instance, I'll bring in MIDI notes from a bass instrument and when it plays specifically the note B1, it seems to be triggering a piano that I have in a completely different Group! I suspect this has something to do with the "Start Note" (rather than the Channel) I set it to, but I would like to know the reasoning behind this and what I've done wrong so I can fix it and prevent it next time.

I know these issues are pretty specific so I tried to make them as understandable/digestible as possible.. Thanks

heres an image for reference..How do I simply get all of this information into Ableton? My MIDI notes are there. They sound fine, but they dont change. The sounds dont modulate they just stay at where the parameters were initially set

I'm starting to get the impression that it's impossible to retrieve modulation that was produced in Maschine??? Do I just route my MIDI notes into Live and redo all the modulation?

Just bounce your audio to Ableton (either with drag and drop from patterns or export). Your midi isn’t going to carry any of the automation.

Well that sucks I mean I guess "it is what it is" but so many people talk about how smoothly maschine integrates with ableton and this doesnt seem smooth at all lol

It does not carry over because it's not automation, it's modulation; the former by definition can only exist in the host DAW.
Think of it like this: Modulation = internal and Automation = External.
Modulation is not stored in the MIDI section of Maschine like Pitch Bends or Modwhell data is, it's separate so It won't go along when you drag and drop MIDI.

This has disadvantages like no way to carry the data to DAW but also has advantages like both Modulation and Automation can work at the same time for one knob for example.

In the following illustration I am Modulating the Tune Knob fast in Maschine plugin and Automating it slowly from Ableton.

That's what I would do, and in the future just enable automation for the knobs and do it directly in the DAW.

It would be nice to be able to convert modulation into automation tho.
