I am thinking about buying Maschine but have a question. Is it possible to run the standalone version of Maschine whilst also running Cubase at the same time.

The reason for asking is in the hope that I could be working on Cubase whilst somebody else can be playing away with Maschine in the studio with a pair of headphones on (I will output Maschine to a different output to Cubase via my mixing desk).

Failing that, can you run the VST host plugin and not have Maschine interfere with what Cubase is doing, i.e. not start and stop the project, change channels within the project etc?

    Cheers

this would be easy to set up on a Mac as long as you have an external Soundcard.

i guess you would need two computer displays though?

with a PC you would need a multi-client - i think that is the correct terminology - Audio card. some =one who owns a PC will have to advise you.

    Yes.

No. Running Maschine as a Plugin will make it automatically linked to Cubase transport as a slave, and you cannot change that. The transport controls on Maschine cease to function, but all patterns etc will be launched in Maschine whenever start is hit in Cubase.

but just to make clear..if you are happy with being the start/stop master, your mate can indeed sit there and do completely his own thing..he just can't start or stop the sequencer.
