S4 compatible with normal Traktor Pro?

I understand that the S4 came with it's own version of Traktor that was designed specifically for the controller. But would I be able to open the normal standard Traktor software and connect my S4 through that?

 

Well, at least this will be true in 2 weeks. On 1st of April all S4 owners will get a free update to Traktor Pro 2 and then there won't be any S4 specific branch of Traktor software.

To be honest, I can't think of any reason of why I'd go with the normal Traktor Pro as it's basically the same application, but with less features than Traktor S4. And no, I don't feel like checking simply because my S4 setup is now working flawlessly and I don't want to jinx it by installing another version of Traktor on my laptop

 

S4 is a midi controller so surely the answer is yes. Although I don't know why you would want to.

 

True, I was only thinking of the HID side. Let's see if Karlos spots this thread. He most probably knows if the S4 support is inbuilt also in Traktor Pro.

 

Yeah, you might have to map it yourself.

 

Kontrol S4 will plug and play with Traktor Pro 2 in the exact same way as with the S4 software.
You could use the KS4 with Traktor Pro1 but you would lose functionality of the loop display LEDs as they are not mappable in the user mapping.

As Laite mentions, if you have KS4 its probably better to wait till TP2 is out. Its free to S4 owners.
